Summary

The Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for complying the company's Trade Compliance program and working with the company's Director of Trade Compliance and Legal Department. The candidate will be an integral part of the Trade Compliance team and will assist the organization with various areas of trade compliance responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Have strong experience with creating and submitting DDTC and BIS Export Licensing requirements.

  • Must be able to provide approvals on the determination and usage of BIS Exceptions and DDTC Exemptions.

  • Manage, audit and provide training on approved export authorizations from DDTC and/or BIS.

  • Ability to work, collaborate and communicate with all levels of management and/or cross-functional departments.

  • Experience working with Program Managers, Designers, and Engineers on technical situations and developing trade compliant solutions.

  • Ability to process Foreign Travel Request, Denied Party Screening, Visitor Approvals and Technical Data Reviews.

  • Experience with Product Jurisdiction, Product Classification and HTS/Schedule B for products and software.

  • Experience with import/export shipment transactions is desired.

  • Assist with audits of internal controls and procedures by examining artifacts to ensure compliant transactions

  • Supports external audits and/or inquiries from US governmental control agencies such as US Customs, Department of State and Department of Commerce through data gathering and corrective action execution.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees across the Company on trade compliance matters.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

  • Must be able to make significant improvements of processes and provide solutions that enhance performance and/or efficiency

  • Demonstrate proactive ownership and strong organizational skills with an ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Trade Compliance or direct Sr. Manager.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Trade Certification, is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years related work experience (e.g. export licenses and product classifications).

  • Knowledge of the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

  • A technical background for jurisdiction and classifications in hardware and software, is preferred.

Preferred Skills

Weld experience to support the production of simulators and training systems by fabricating high- precision structural assemblies, motion platforms, and support components.

  • Background in import / export regulations, compliance, classifications, licensing and exemptions, commodity jurisdiction requests and Technology Control Plans.

  • Certified export compliance personnel, is preferred.

  • Ability to file Electronic Export Information (EEI) in the Automated Export System (AES) is desired.

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and phone etiquette.

  • Role requires ability to work across multiple functional departments / organizations and globally.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a time sensitive environment.

  • Able to work within a team and foster teamwork and trust from both external and internal customers.

  • Strong organizational, communication and computer skills.

  • Strong level of computer skills with MS Office products and ability to be on video for internal and external MS Teams calls.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent may require a DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Flexible working schedule to support business priorities.
