Position Overview
| Essential Job Duties |
The Neurology Service at the NC State Veterinary Hospital is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained veterinary neurologist for a 12-month Neurology Fellowship. The focus of the fellowship will be dictated by candidate's interests. Possible areas of interest include (but are not limited to) neurosurgery, neuroimaging, electro diagnostics, epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases and dementia, and spinal cord injury.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide additional clinical and teaching support to the Neurology Service to ensure there are 2 neurologists on clinical duty throughout the year. Time will be split between being on the clinic floor and advanced training.
- 34 weeks rotating on the clinic floor
- 16 weeks dedicated to training in the fellow's area of interest and research
- 2 weeks of vacation
During the clinical blocks, the fellow will serve as one of two primary clinicians on the Neurology Service, working alongside a second senior neurologist. The majority of the clinic time will be dedicated to supporting the general Neurology Service; however, the fellow will have the opportunity to initiate focus clinics in their area of interest, if appropriate.
- The off-clinic blocks will be dedicated to advanced training, research efforts, and teaching activities
If desired, the fellow will identify a research project that they can reasonably get done in the time available and for which appropriate support is available. This project could overlap with any of their training opportunities. |
