JOB TITLE: Electrical Engineer - Wire Harness Design (Contract)

JOB SUMMARY:
Planet is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a short-term, part-time project. This individual will translate customer-provided engineering drawings into actionable, internal production documentation for in-house manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review complex customer schematics, technical drawings, and source control documents.
- Translate external customer designs into internal engineering standards.
- Create detailed documentation for internal wire harness fabrication and assembly.
- Define precise manufacturing steps including cutting, stripping, crimping, and labeling.
- Select and verify equivalent internal components, connectors, backshells, and wire types.
- Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and production.
- Collaborate with internal technicians to troubleshoot assembly queries.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design, specifically focusing on wire harnesses.
- Proven ability to interpret, reverse-engineer, and standardize external engineering drawings.
- High proficiency with wire harness design software (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, Zuken).
- Strong knowledge of aerospace or military harness standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4).
- Deep understanding of connector families, contact crimping tools, and shielding techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of generating error-free assembly instructions.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Prior experience working in aerospace, satellite manufacturing, or high-reliability hardware sectors.
- Immediate availability to begin the contract.

Estimated Min Rate: $70.00
Estimated Max Rate: $85.00
