Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Logistics Operational Specialist to join our Mobile Manufacturing Site team based in Mobile, AL.

Meet the Team:

You will be part of a team that is the main interface between operational functions such as manufacturing engineering, production, production scheduler, and supply officer to ensure the delivery of the right part, with the right logistics mean, at the right time at the Point of Use (PoU) and in compliance with safety, operating procedures and current standards. Responsible for continuous improvement of logistics activities for a station/unit/plant.

On 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. Your Challenges:

Lead and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

  • Design and implementation of the optimized distribution solutions.

  • Support Airbus Operating System (AOS) maturity development by providing inputs.

Coordinate and monitor Logistics Activities

  • Attend logistics SQCDP meetings.

  • Escalate issues impacting Logistics and/or Production Activities.

  • Collect new needs from functions and inform Production about Logistics impacts.

  • Understand and analyze KPI's to anticipate issues and improve distribution flow from HUB to Point of Use.

Adapt Distribution solutions and ensure data management

  • Distribution solutions adaptations if manageable at his/her level (physical and information flows).

  • Ensure maintenance and creation of logistics data, flow cartography and inform impacted functions.

  • Provide advice and assistance to the shopfloor in order to upskill them on physical flows issues.

  • Create work specifications in ase of new activities and submit them.

Manage and prevent logistics disruptions

  • Curative, corrective, preventive actions in their scope of responsibility to improve performance.

  • Perform or contribute to Practical Problem Solving (PPS).

  • Perform first-level IT maintenance by following troubleshooting procedures and maintain regular contact with the support team.

Manage Logistics Means

  • Ensure the appropriate use and monitor inventory of specific logistics means.

  • Contribute to design and maintain the specific logistics means.

  • Manage specific and standard logistics means loop for his/her internal and external perimeter.

Manage operational distribution activities

  • Monitor, analyse the performance of the distribution solutions (Physical Flow vs IT Flows) and define action plan if needed using different IT tools.

  • Manage risk and implement mitigation strategies

Your Boarding Pass:

Education:

  • BA or BS degree in the appropriate discipline from an accredited college or university. Additional relevant education may be substituted for progressive experience

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills are required along with comprehensive knowledge of company policies and procedures and work flow processes

  • Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and six sigma principles

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working within the community of Supply Chain, Warehousing and Logistics

  • Minimum 1 years of proven leadership capabilities having directly managed successful teams

  • Experience working with an external service provider preferred

  • Experience within a Foreign Trade Zone Manufacturing Environment preferred

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Introduction of common operation-instructions of plant processes

  • Analyzing and improving processes in accordance with Six-Sigma-methods (green belt preferred)

  • Occupational health and safety regulations

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Experience in methods of producing and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Experience in implementation of service level agreements

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation

  • Experience with project management

  • Sound working knowledge of health, safety and environmental

  • Strong analytical skills

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent communication skills - Spoken, Written, Influencing

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3/EWM

Travel Required:

  • Candidates will be responsible for working directly with Operations, Inventory Control, third party contractors and other departments across multiple programs to make recommendations for maintaining and improving warehouse operations

  • Independently establishes requirements and coordinates actions with stakeholders to ensure they are fulfilled

  • Required to lead or attend virtual meetings with team members from Europe and Canada

Organizational information:

This position has no direct reports but assists the LSM in managing an LSP staffed at over 120 personnel.

Nature of Contacts:

  • Liaise and coordinate directly with the OT organization (specifically with OTO, OTE & OTX)

  • Communicates regularly with internal and external parties

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions. Must be able to read wire numbers, and differentiate colors

  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.

  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

  • Travel/Mobility: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time on short notice.

  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
