Director of Business Intelligence

Hillenbrand
United States, Ohio, Cincinnati
May 13, 2026

As the Director, Business Intelligence, you'll set directions for how Hillenbrand Corporate uses data to improve execution, measure performance, and scale decision-making. This is a remote role, ideally based in the U.S. Midwest, with broad visibility across enterprise priorities. We're a global industrial company with a portfolio of businesses that serve customers across a range of end markets. You'll help strengthen trust in data, accelerate insight-to-action cycles, and enable sustainable growth through disciplined, repeatable analytics. You'll also help us live our Core Values: WIN AS ONE, PARTNER WITH POSSIBILITY, MAKE IT MATTER, and DRIVE TO DELIVER.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Define and deliver an enterprise business intelligence (BI) strategy that aligns to digital transformation goals, with clear success measures and an actionable roadmap.

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional BI team across data engineering, Power BI development, analytics, and project delivery, using consistent standards, coaching, and performance management.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to identify high-value analytics opportunities, translate needs into scoped work, and drive adoption through practical change management.

  • Oversee modern data engineering across Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks, to ensure secure, reliable ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.

  • Guide data platform architecture and reusable data product patterns, including lakehouse and medallion approaches, to improve scalability, cost management, and time to insight.

  • Standardize Power BI semantic models, dashboards, reporting patterns, and workspace design to enable self-service analytics while protecting performance, governance, and consistency.

  • Run BI program governance across intake, prioritization, delivery, vendor coordination, and executive communication, focusing on measurable outcomes, risks, and return on investment.

TEAM:

  • You'll collaborate with partners across enterprise technology, operations, finance, and functional teams, and you'll build alignment through clear priorities, shared standards, and respectful ways of working. You'll create an environment where people feel included, listened to, and supported, and where data is used consistently to improve outcomes across Hillenbrand.

THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data roles, including 5+ years leading teams and/or enterprise programs.

  • Hands-on expertise building and operating solutions with ADF, Databricks, Azure SQL technologies, and Microsoft Power BI in production environments.

  • Experience designing and managing enterprise data pipelines, data models, and semantic layers that scale across multiple domains and stakeholder groups.

  • Working knowledge of data governance and data quality practices, including access controls, stewardship, lineage concepts, and compliance-minded delivery.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a BI portfolio, prioritize work based on impact, and deliver complex initiatives with disciplined execution.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including translating technical topics into clear decisions, tradeoffs, and outcomes.

  • Sound judgment, integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset, with a practical approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
