Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary and Business Services is responsible for directing diverse operations while optimizing fiscal, physical and staff resources to deliver a broad array of services and programs to the campus community in support of the University's mission. The AVC of Campus Enterprises works collaboratively with campus leadership to develop and/or enhance programs, services, strategies and processes in a manner that promotes excellence, transparency and innovation.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary and Business Services provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for the institution's auxiliary enterprises and business service operations. The position is responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient, and financially sustainable services that enhance the campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor oversees a portfolio of revenue-generating and support service units such as dining services, bookstore and retail operations, campus card services, mail services, vending operations, transportation and parking services, printing services, and other auxiliary programs. The role ensures operational excellence, fiscal accountability, compliance with institutional policies and regulations, and alignment with the institution's strategic priorities.
The position collaborates with senior leadership, campus stakeholders, and external vendors to support institutional goals and enhance operational efficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The selected candidate should have a working knowledge of accounting and accountancy systems; have worked with an ERP system, experience with negotiating contracts and leveraging resources. Candidate must have excellent written and oral skills, be a strong communicator and consensus builder. A working knowledge of Athletic business operations, dining, housing or related entities. Possess a strong business background and acumen; experience managing multiple events simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to increase revenue sources
Minimum Education/Experience
Masters Degree in Business, Accounting, Management, Marketing or related degree. At least 5-7 years of progressive management experience in an operation similar to Auxiliary enterprises (multiple units & cost centers).

Primary Responsibilities and Duties


Function Systems Implementation & Administration

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for auxiliary and business service operations across the institution.
  • Develop and implement long-range strategic plans to support institutional goals and improve operational performance.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, service improvements, and revenue growth within auxiliary operations.
  • Participate in institutional leadership meetings and contribute to campus planning initiatives.



Function Operational Oversight

  • Direct and oversee the daily operations of auxiliary service units including but not limited to dining services, bookstore and retail operations, campus card services, parking and transportation, mail services, printing services, and vending programs.
  • Establish operational standards and performance expectations to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Monitor service performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency across auxiliary units.
  • Ensure auxiliary services effectively support the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.



Function Financial Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for auxiliary and business service units.
  • Monitor financial performance, revenue generation, and expenditures to ensure fiscal sustainability.
  • Analyze operational and financial data to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of institutional resources and compliance with financial policies.



Function Contract and Vendor Management

  • Oversee procurement and contract administration for auxiliary services.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate service agreements and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with institutional standards.
  • Ensure contracts support operational goals and provide cost-effective services.



Function Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure auxiliary services operations comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls for financial transactions, operational practices, and contract management.

Function Collaboration and Campus Engagement
