Responsibilities Under the supervision and direction of the dispatcher, the primary responsibility is to coordinate and physically transport patients into and within the hospital. The Patient Wheelchair Transporter safely transfers and accompanies patients to and from clinical and support areas utilizing wheelchairs and other mobility devices. In this role, you will also be required to communicate in a professional manner with patients, co-workers and healthcare staff. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Transports patients by moving them to and from wheelchairs and assisting/lifting patients on and off beds.
Qualifications Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience Required: High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience. Prior patient transport or healthcare experience a plus. Availability to Work: Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift and/or week-ends may be required. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to hospital staff, patients and other employees of the company. Customer Service Skills: Ability to effectively respond positively and professionally to patient and/or hospital staff requests, inquiries and/or complaints. Appearance: Employees will be required to maintain a neat and clean appearance and be in complete uniform at all times. Immunization or Health Screening Requirements: May be required to meet immunization or health screening requirements through providing personal records or undergoing testing and, if required, further immunizations or tests. Training Requirements: Successful completion of SP+ New Hire and Patient Transporter (PT) courses including on-the-job demonstration of skills. Other Attributes: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but standard written or oral instructions. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; able to deal with change, delays or unexpected events. Salary Range: $15.00 per hour (+ tips) This role is eligible to earn tips in addition to the posted hourly rate.
