DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor position, you will be responsible for supervising a unit consisting of VR Counselors, Business Services Representatives, Early Reach Coordinators, and other specialty areas who collaborate to provide vocational rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. This role provides the opportunity to drive positive change and support life-changing progress for others. Your work will involve the following duties:

  • Team Leadership: Direct unit activities, assign work, and monitor progress to support effective service delivery
  • Case Oversight: Review case information, approve decisions about service eligibility and cost, and ensure accurate record management
  • Performance Management: Set goals with staff, evaluate performance, and address changes or concerns through regular supervision
  • Staff Development: Provide training, guidance, and resources that strengthen the skills and efficiency of team members
  • Community Coordination: Maintain partnerships with organizations and groups to support vocational rehabilitation services
  • Program Support: Develop initiatives, solve service issues, and contribute to agency goals and special projects

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are typically 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Schedule is negotiable - 7.5 hour workday and lunch period is 30 minutes or 60 minutes depending on work hours. Alternate Work Schedules (AWS) are available for eligible candidates.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Castle. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,736 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Vision Rehabilitation Therapist; or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years as a Social Worker 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program, and a master's degree in vocational rehabilitation, mental health, special education, social work, human services, psychology or a closely related field; or
  • Two years of professional experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program, and possession of an active Certified Rehabilitation Counselor certificate issued by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
