Leidos' Defense Systems is seeking an Electronics Estimator for our Electronics Manufacturing facility, located in Huntsville, Alabama. Our manufacturing capabilities at this facility include PCBA, Cable harnesses, and Electro-mechanical assembly fabrication as well as various electronic testing capabilities.

The Electronics Estimator will play a key role in our acquisition, proposal, planning and forecasting business processes, as well as be a key team member in our improvement initiatives related to manufacturing estimating, which include standardizing estimating formats, improving throughput, improving capacity planning, and improving headcount forecasting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop material and labor estimates for various electronic components and assemblies.

  • Use Excel templates and simulation software to develop estimates.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and work with vendor quotes.

  • Interact with production team members to thoroughly map the manufacturing processes for proper estimating.

  • Maintain a database of common manufacturing process estimates and refine the information based on actuals.

  • Use Lessons Learned to maintain a checklist of things that need included during estimating.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 4+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in estimating PCB assemblies, Cable harnesses, and/or Electro-mechanical assemblies.

  • Proficient use of MS Office, with advanced experience in Excel.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and a thorough understanding of IPC standards.

  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume proposal environment.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative working environment.

  • US Citizenship required and ability to obtain secret clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with manufacturing of Defense, Space, and Aerospace products and related electronic manufacturing processes is preferred.

  • Previous experience in an estimating capacity supporting a manufacturing organization with automated electronic assembly and testing.

  • Experience working as a manufacturing engineer in electronics assembly.

  • Familiarity navigating production and support functions to develop comprehensive, datadriven cost models.

  • Experience collaborating with Production, IE, Engineering, and Supply Chain to collect data on material usage, routings, yields, and process assumptions.

  • Ability to recognize how changes in processes, documentation, or equipment needs may affect overall manufacturing cost estimates.

  • Understanding of EBOM and MBOM's with the use of phantom or synthetic part number.
