Position Summary
Serves as a senior Epic application subject-matter expert with deep knowledge of Epic systems, related non-Epic applications, integrations, and operational workflows. Independently manages complex Epic design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, upgrades, and ongoing support activities. Works closely with operational leaders, vendors, IT teams, and end users to identify business needs, troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and implement effective solutions across integrated systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced Epic application design, build, testing, optimization, and support efforts across multiple operational areas and integrated systems.
  • Analyze complex operational and technical issues, identify root causes, recommend solutions, and implement enhancements or new functionality.
  • Manage advanced configurations, integrations, upgrades, and system maintenance involving Epic and third-party applications.
  • Troubleshoot complex cross-functional issues related to workflows, interfaces, vendors, scheduling, billing, and system performance.
  • Coordinate with operational teams, vendors, project managers, and IT teams to support implementations and ongoing system improvements.
  • Participate in upgrade planning, release review, integrated testing, and deployment activities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, workflows, testing scripts, and training materials.
  • Mentor junior analysts, provide guidance on best practices, and support project coordination activities.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support user training and adoption of new workflows and functionality.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; equivalent experience may substitute.
  • Epic certification in primary core application required.
  • Second Epic core certification required within one year of hire, if applicable.
  • Additional Epic specialty certifications preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years of Epic application support experience with demonstrated complex build/configuration experience.
  • Experience supporting operational workflows, system integrations, troubleshooting, and user support.
  • Experience presenting technical information, advising users, and supporting training initiatives.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of Epic application support experience.
  • Experience in hospital operations such as revenue cycle, scheduling, billing, or finance.
  • Experience working with Epic integrations, third-party vendors, and large-scale system upgrades.
  • Previous Electronic Health Record (EHR) super-user experience preferred.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
