TDI Technologies, Inc. (TDI) is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary preliminary design team for the BBG(X) program. The candidate will be responsible for developing technical documents, system development plans, and engineering studies for multiple shipboard systems and subsystems, including hull, machinery, and electrical components. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate with stakeholders across engineering, program management, and acquisition domains. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and review of technical and logistical documentation for hull, machinery, and electrical shipboard systems and subsystems.
- Develop system development plans, specifications, and requirements for undersea and surface ship design.
- Prepare and deliver formal technical presentations for internal and external meetings, including Flag-level audiences.
- Support machinery research, development, testing, and evaluation activities; provide technical support at meetings, testing, and demonstrations at Philadelphia and vendor facilities.
- Roadmap and develop documentation for software models/tools supporting ship design.
- Specify, research, develop, build, and execute specialized computing and simulation environments for design, simulation, and concept studies.
- Collaborate with engineers, mathematicians, naval architects, and cyber leads to ensure technical and cybersecurity requirements are met.
- Design, document, and present technical course material on machinery systems, digital engineering, modeling and simulation, and systems integration.
- Document the ship design process for hull, machinery, and electrical systems.
- Research and analyze existing ship systems (electrical, mechanical, control) to capture essential dynamics within modeling platforms (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, PhoenixModelCenter, BOXARR, Innoslate).
- Develop system model components for engineering studies of complex HM&E systems.
- Provide engineering services supporting reliability engineering projects.
- Generate project plans, concepts of operation, and management outlines.
- Participate in technical meetings and program reviews; provide action-item tracking and draft meeting minutes.
- Evaluate, review, and produce engineering drawings (physical and digital); interpret regulatory and engineering standards (commercial, military).
- Support program analytics, project management, and preparation of acquisition artifacts pursuant to DD 5000.1 and commercial standards.
- Translate, refactor, and reformat technical documentation, including vendor information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in ship design, engineering, or related technical leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience with shipboard systems development, technical documentation, and engineering analysis.
- Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Cameo, PhoenixModelCenter, BOXARR, Innoslate).
- Strong communication and presentation skills; experience briefing senior leadership.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and standards (DD 5000.1).
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical projects.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance. Due to the nature of our work with the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. citizenship is required. Some positions may require the renunciation of any non-U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
