Overview Join the Engineering Applications team within Distribution Engineerings System Design department where you can have the opportunity to build the electric grid of the future. The System Design department is seeking highly a motivated and versatile Manager (2H) to join our team. System Design is responsible for overall system analysis, design standards, high tension, renewable and distributed generation analysis and interconnections, and engineering computer applications. The Engineering Applications team performs distribution system studies, provides technical support, and coordinates with company forces to support in the design, upgrade, and maintenance of the Con Edison distribution system. The Manager in the Engineering Applications team will supervise associates, system analysts, senior system analysts, and contractors in providing a wide range of engineering services to internal and external customers, including the development and maintenance of Con Edisons principal distribution system design and operation tool, the Poly-voltage Load Flow (PVL) suite of applications as well as other analytical tools such as CYME and SINCAL, and developing other engineering analytical tools. The team provides user support and utilizes feedback to help improve our applications and to evaluate additional analytical tools and load flow programs for Engineering and Planning. Members of this team also work with IT to support migration of platforms to IT servers and to remain compliant with all Company standards and security requirements. Candidates will interact with all levels of management, union, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Manage, direct and supervise engineering and/or contractor personnel in providing expertise and coordination among various operating departments and customers on technical matters.
- Provide and support learning and growth opportunities for your employees. Manage and prioritize tasks for the team to ensure high visibility items are addressed and to drive process improvements. Supervise the development and implementation of engineering logics to identify and address distribution system abnormal conditions.
- Develop, maintain, and provide user support for programs used across different engineering groups. Develop new computer application modules supporting electric distribution system analysis functions, and provide guidance and training as necessary. Oversee the user support of Engineering Application groups various computer applications and interfaces with IT regarding changing IT requirements. Support migration of platforms to IT servers.
- Support development of standard load flow tools for non-network engineering analysis. Conduct engineering studies, including utilizing load flow tools (e.g. PVL, SINCAL, CYME) to analyze and propose potential solutions, technical guidance, and recommendations. Collaborate with internal teams for development of load flow tools for 8760 modeling and DER impact, including maintaining user manuals and providing direction to improve the accuracy of results, and ease of adaptation of new tools. Advise and provide guidance to the organization for modeling the system of the future, including for electrification of heating and vehicles. Evaluate solutions to address challenges for modeling DER projects connecting to the distribution system.
- Periodically meet with internal customers to ensure satisfaction with the products the team provides, such as conducting periodic meetings with model maintenance groups to review lessons learned and best practices.
- Support internal and external organizations with root cause analysis, technical expertise, and guidance. Coordinate company forces to support the design, upgrade, and maintenance of the Con Edison Distribution system. The Manager must continuously improve and enhance processes to increase reliability, decrease O&M costs, and facilitate faster operation of the Con Edison system.
- Attend meetings with other departments, contractors, consultants, and representatives from inside and outside the Company.
- Provide managerial and technical direction for System Designs technical specifications.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum of 5 years' work related experience required Must have technical experience in the electric distribution system and its engineering applications, such as load flow. or
- Master's Degree in Engineering and minimum of 3 years' work related experience required Must have work experience and
- knowledge of the electric distribution
- system and its engineering applications, such as load flow.
Relevant Work Experience
- Knowledge of substations, Con Edison Underground Network and Overhead Electrical system, required.
- Strong software development skills including C/C++/C# using Visual Studio, and working knowledge of LINUX, required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, required.
- Experience with providing technical direction for the System Design's technical specification, required.
- Experience with enhancing processes to increase reliability, decrease O&M costs, and facilitate faster operation of the Con Edison system, required.
- Ability to effectively interact with both internal and external customers, support staff and various levels of management, required.

- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts and 12-hour shifts, as needed.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required, during visits to various work sites.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
