Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine is searching for a Lab Assistant

Salary Range: $22.44/hr.

Position Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing simple and routine, generally non-technical laboratory/research related tasks. Assist with maintaining lab equipment and research supplies. May assist with the handling and care of lab animals. Assist in obtaining and recording research data.

Job Details:
* This is a grant funded position

Required Education and Experience:
* At least one year of directly related laboratory experience required.

Required Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to work under close supervision
* Ability to work with lab animals in research setting
* Familiarity with basic lab techniques and terminology
* Ability to operate standard office equipment.
* Ability to operate laboratory equipment.
* Ability to handle sensitive equipment

Essential Duties:
* Perform inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies.
* Assist in ordering laboratory supplies as needed. Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment.
* Assist in the recording, compiling and organizing of data as required.
* Clean and dry laboratory glassware and plastic ware, etc.
* May assist with feeding laboratory animals, cleaning their cages and maintain feeding logs.
* Prepare standard solutions and reagents.
* Perform routine staining and fixing of specimens, place media in test tubes, Petri dishes or other containers and prepare simple culture media following explicit instructions.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
