Job Description

The University of Missouri will begin implementing a new cloud ERP solution this year, replacing PeopleSoft HCM and Finance systems. The University is hiring a Payroll expert to assist with this multi-year project, and ongoing support after implementation. This role will support ERP configuration within the Payroll module, working with partners from other modules and certified implementation consultants. The Payroll Expert serves as a strategic and operational leader, responsible for delivering accurate, compliant payroll services while advancing continuous improvement, innovation, and organizational change. This role partners across HR, Finance, and enterprise functions to modernize payroll processes, support system enhancements, and enable an exceptional employee experience. This role will be within the HR Information System department.

Responsibilities include:
* Serve as the Cloud ERP expert for the Payroll area, aligning system design with business processes and goals.
* Partner closely with HR/Payroll leaders at campus and MU Health Care to understand business needs and translate into ERP specifications and requirements. Champion organizational change by promoting adoption of new payroll processes, tools, and policies.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline payroll processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy. Identify and implement innovative solutions leveraging HR/ERP technologies, automation, and analytics.
* Oversee end-to-end delivery of new ERP system implementation for Payroll functionality, including discovery, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-launch support
* Document business processes, functional specs, test cases, and user guides
* Serve as a subject matter expert for new Payroll system inquiries and escalations
* Monitor legislative changes that may impact payroll processes and compliance. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Evaluate and adapt processes in response to evolving regulatory, system, and organizational needs
* Support year-end processing, including W-2 reconciliation, audits, and reporting
* Troubleshoot issues and provide clearly documented solutions
* Assist with Payroll reporting and dashboards

Shift

40 hours per week M-F

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, and five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Certified Payroll Professional from the American Payroll Association
* Experience working in the Higher Education and Healthcare industries
* Experience with Absence Management
* Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Strong customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,512 - $95,000 annually

Grade: GGS-012
