Overview
Job Title: Dietary Supervisor Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary: The Dietary Supervisor assists the Director of Dining Services in overseeing the daily operations of the dining services department, including the kitchen, dish room, food storage areas, and dining rooms. This role ensures high-quality food service while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing daily operations of dining services, including kitchen and dining areas
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, best practices, and departmental policies
- Supervise staff to ensure proper food handling, preparation, and service
- Monitor inventory of food and non-food supplies based on resident needs and menu cycles
- Communicate regularly with the Director and/or Administrator regarding operations
- Conduct audits and support performance improvement initiatives
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and in-service programs
- Step into all departmental roles as needed and act as Director in their absence
- Interact with residents and family members to ensure satisfaction and address concerns
- Maintain knowledge of federal and state Department of Health regulations
- Ensure proper preparation, handling, and service of food in compliance with regulations
- Assist with training, onboarding, and mentoring staff and interns
- Conduct in-service training sessions as needed
- Provide feedback on staff performance to leadership
- Use electronic timekeeping systems as required
- Maintain punctuality and adherence to assigned schedules
- Follow dress code, including wearing a name tag at all times
- Adhere to policies regarding electronic devices and workplace conduct
- Support and uphold the organization's mission, values, and code of conduct
- Comply with HIPAA and all compliance standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in Food Service Management, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred
- Working knowledge of CMS and Department of Health (DOH) regulations
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Experience with DOH survey process preferred
- Computer skills, including nutritional software programs, preferred
Additional Requirements: This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. To maintain a safe and effective work environment, candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate level or higher.
