Job Summary

The Business Analyst performs foundational documentation tasks in support of technical teams, program requirements, and internal business operations. This position supports the creation, formatting, and revision of user guides, standard operating procedures, training materials, meeting minutes, and technical documentation. This role works under close supervision and follows established documentation guidelines and templates.

As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor(s), staying focused on the assigned tasks, and completing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements from stakeholders
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and discovery sessions
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical requirements
  • Develop and maintain: Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents and User Stories with acceptance criteria
  • Manage requirements traceability using tools like Jira/Confluence
  • Support prioritization and backlog refinement with product owners and technical teams
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including:System architecture overviews (in collaboration with engineers), Data flow diagrams and process maps, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and API and integration documentation
  • Document current-state (AS-IS) and future-state (TO-BE) processes
  • Ensure documentation aligns with system design, security, and compliance requirements
  • Maintain version control and document repositories (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint)
  • Analyze business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risk
  • Recommend and document process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Develop workflows, SOPs, and standard business process documentation
  • Support change management and implementation of new processes
  • Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders, developers, and technical teams
  • Facilitate meetings, working sessions, and requirements reviews
  • Present findings, recommendations, and system impacts to leadership
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Stakeholder briefing materials

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years' experience in administrative, clerical, or writing-focused role
  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and PDF editing tools
  • DoD Secret Clearance Required
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or coursework in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field
  • Experience supporting a federal contractor or defense program
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or collaborative document systems
