JOB SUMMARY:

To assist in planning, organizing, and directing the Summer Lunch Program following all State of Tennessee and USDA Summer Food Service Program guidelines, under the direction of the Summer Lunch Program Supervisor.

***PLEASE NOTE: EXPERIENCE WITH USDA FOOD SERVICE PROGRAMS AND THE SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM ARE PREFERRED.***

Example of Duties

JOB DUTIES:

  • Assists with ordering all needed supplies for summer lunch.
  • Assists in training summer staff on proper procedures in accordance with USDA guidelines.
  • Assists in the coordination of lunch menu and delivery with the Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS).
  • Assists in organizing all summer food service program documentation forms for each site and reviews them weekly. This includes point-of-service counts. Verifies that point-of-service counts and documentation forms are completed correctly.
  • Supervises summer youth program staff to ensure that all employees are following USDA guidelines.
  • Attends online USDA trainings as required.
  • Reports all incidents to the Summer Lunch Supervisor and Parks and Recreation Superintendent.

Typical Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Shall possess and display resourcefulness and responsibility.
  • Ability to enforce rules and regulations enforced by the Parks and Recreation Department and the USDA.

Supplemental Information

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must work well with children and adults.
  • Available to work the entire eight week summer program which includes a week for preparation.
  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Must possess a driver's license and have reliable transportation.
  • Experience with USDA Food Service programs preferred.
JOB CONDITIONS:
  • Lifting, usually 30 pounds or less.
  • Travels daily while on the job to various summer lunch programs.
Position is part-time for eight weeks, mid-May through late-July., No sick leave or vacation is accrued; no paid holidays.
