Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for leading improvements in nursing practice and nursing care that results in the achievement of top tier empirical outcomes for nursing sensitive measures, nursing engagement, nursing care, and the patient experience. Reporting directly to the Hospital Chief Nursing Officers and working closely with the various network leaders, directors, Nursing Shared Governance leadership and Nursing Professional Education. Collaborates with Division of Nursing leadership to develop and sustain an environment that promotes excellence consistent with a culture of professional nursing. Focuses on sustaining activities and structures that promote an optimal work environment for professional nurses and care team members, resulting in outstanding patient outcomes. Will work with units, departments, shared governance, and the organization in hands-on coaching, evidence-based action planning, and performance monitoring for ongoing and sustained improvement in nursing outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Consults with the senior Nursing leadership and various leadership positions and provides support to ensure the organization meets or exceeds exemplary performance. Oversees standardization of nursing quality data collection, dissemination and evaluation (National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), HonorHealth Hospital Report Card, Nursing Dashboards, etc.). Interfaces with other colleagues to align nursing outcomes with organizational imperatives: quality, infection prevention, continuous improvement, patient safety, and information systems. Evaluates departmental performance, providing feedback and driving process improvement in operational and service excellence while considering safety, outcomes, effectiveness, and cost, along with the impact on the delivery of services through the utilization of improvement tools, principles and industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborates with leadership on planning, designing, and implementing strategies and tactics to improve nursing sensitive measures, nursing engagement, nursing care, and the patient experience. Provides support to nursing leaders in establishing a professional practice environment that embodies the Professional Practice Model. Ensures nursing outcome and patient experience improvement initiatives are evidence-based. Assists with complex projects and provides expertise for programs, processes, and best practices. Supports the advancement of clinical programs and services to a level that exceeds regional, national and international standards through advancing and promoting evidence-based practice, nursing research, and policy and procedure development.
  • Serves as a champion of enterprise wide culture, influencing culture change to support operational objectives. Leads the development of a culture of innovation and inquiry through spreading and sustaining evidence-based practice and leadership. Serves as a resource for shared governance; provides coaching and proactive consultation at the unit, department, and organizational level to engage staff at all levels of the organization to improve and celebrate improvement. Serves as Professional Recognition Program Leader and coordinates efforts to obtain Professional Recognition for nursing and achieve compliance with all Professional Recognition Program requirements.
  • Prepares regular reports to leadership on the progress of clinical nursing certification, education, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. Assists in the development and monitoring of unit, department, and organizational action plans to improve nursing performance and patient experience. In collaboration with clinical and Administrative leadership, assumes hospital-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the achievement of selected nursing recognition programs. Includes application, or re-designation process. Responsible for collaborating and documenting standards in nursing excellence are achieved or exceeded and that evidence-based practice and performance excellence are hardwired into all areas of the organization. The position will assist with preparation of documentation, policies and procedures and research activities related to acquiring and maintaining selected nursing recognition programs.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelors Nursing and Enrollment in a Master's in nursing or Doctoral Program in nursing within 12 months of hire and completion within 36 of enrollment Required
  • Masters Nursing Preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of clinical experience Required
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - License State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure Required
  • Achievement and maintenance of an approved nursing certification Upon Hire Required
