Position Summary
The University of St. Francis, a Catholic, Franciscan institution in Joliet, Illinois, invites applications for an adjunct Director of Choral Activities to serve as artistic director and conductor of the Claritas Master Chorale beginning August 2026. The Director will conduct and manage all facets of the Claritas Master Chorale, a college-community choir, including teaching, rehearsing, recruiting new members, and collaborating with the College of Arts & Sciences on two concerts per year. Concerts may include "Christmas at the Motherhouse" and an end of semester spring concert. The successful candidate will understand the pedagogical and interpersonal needs of a college-community choir and apply those skills in the rehearsal setting.

The position reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The University of St. Francis is a welcoming community of learners committed to enhancing diversity and equity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage all facets of college-community chorus.
  • Engage in collaborative outreach and recruiting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
* Master's degree in Music, or Bachelor's degree in Music with teaching experience
* Prior experience directing choral ensembles
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of students, faculty, coaches, administrators, and staff
* Ability to represent the University to off-campus constituencies, including alumni, friends, corporate partners, and donors
* Understanding and supportive of the values and ideals of a Franciscan, Catholic, and liberal arts tradition
Preferred Requirements
* Five (5) years' experience directing a college or high school choral ensemble
Hours/Shift/Work Schedule
Part-time Adjunct Faculty, nine-month position.
