JOBPay Grade: Professional 5This position will provide quality acceptance inspections for the 58 community colleges on an as needed basis per request. This function is to ensure compliance with the purchase/contract for the item(s) delivered is/are not damaged, is operational, has no material defects and meets the technical specifications requested. EXAMPLE OF DUTIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described. *Develops procedures and schedules for inspecting and evaluating various commodities purchased by NC community colleges to ensure contractual requirements, specifications are met, items are installed properly and proper Safety Standards Labels are affixed.*Prepares a Quality Assurance Inspection Checklist of asset inspections performed during inspection visits for submission to the requesting college's Procurement/Equipment Coordinator or their designee. *Prepares monthly summary reports of inspections to include the requesting college's name, point of contact, response information, item(s) inspected, date of inspection and outcome.*Provides responses to inspection requests of a NC community college procurement office for quality inspection within 24 hours to schedule an appointment within ten (10) business days to perform the inspection of required categories.Provides Quality Acceptance initial assessments and training to the individual community college's staff upon request. Provides materials regarding the subject matter that will also be available and updated on the Wake Tech website.Participates in the Association of Community College Business Officials (ACCBO) conference(s). If requested, providing training on quality acceptance inspections and safety standards labelingCollaborates with Wake Tech's Communications department to maintain a calendar of scheduled inspections on the Wake Tech websiteEstablishes and maintains a line of communication with requesting colleges regarding scheduling and availability for quality acceptance inspections MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Considerable knowledge of the methods of testing various commodities to determine their compliance with contract specification and the various grades and quality of materials, supplies and equipment per NC quality inspection requirementsGenerally knowledgeable of ASTM, SAE and UL standards, and State building codes.Individual should have the ability and/or experience to interpret rules and regulations and to exercise sound reasoning and judgment to make recommendations concerning the acceptability of a commodityAbility to maintain effective relationships with community college staff and to provide information to assist dispute resolutionGeneral knowledge of state purchasing law, policy, and procedures; large scale purchasing methods and procedures; and the characteristics of commodities being inspected.Ability to understand and evaluate technical data as related to contract specifications.Ability to gather, evaluate, and present technical information effectively in oral and written form.Applicant should have working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products and possess the ability to understand and apply technical manuals and diagrams.This position requires an individual who has well-developed interpersonal, communication, organizational and computer skillsWeekly overnight travel is requiredMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Quality Control, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in quality control, inspections or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Valid Driver's license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrierEssential Personnel:TBD |
