TITLE: Sr. Analyst

EMPLOYER: AES Clean Energy Services, LLC

LOCATION: Arlington, VA (100% telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the US)

DUTIES: Collecting and analyzing large data sets centered around US power market data in the development of the firm's proprietary fundamental power market models to derive actionable insights to management. Developing internal processes geared toward keeping up to date with policy changes and changes in the fundamental economics of the power system that may impact commodity prices and renewable asset valuations (e.g. renewable portfolio standards, capacity markets, assets retirements and new generation, transmission enhancements). Researching future, macro level, changes to net load demand and their impact on renewable energy demand. Identifying emerging generation technology and or market trends that will impact commodity prices. Researching and developing conclusions related to the market drivers that impact commodity price changes and resulting renewable asset valuations and future generation stack. Translating ambiguous business questions into well-defined market intelligence inquiries. Providing market and competitive insights through presentations and reports to various internal management teams to allow effective strategic and tactical decision-making and implementation. Conducting/maintaining routine and ad hoc analysis. Develop and maintain internally developed data management and analysis tools. Support the preparation and submittal of fundamental assumptions and results to AES management team.

REQUIREMENTS: Job requires Bachelor's in Information systems, data analytics, or a related field and eight (8) months of experience in any occupation involving energy, power market, energy consulting, or a related field.

The position requires eight (8) months of experience in:

  • Proficiency in designing and implementing automated data pipelines using tools like Excel, Python and SQL to collect, process, and analyze large-scale datasets, incorporating both historical trends and real-time information.
  • Experience in constructing custom data analyses that convert complex datasets into visual reports that reveal emerging market trends.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau and other web-based industry intelligence solutions.
  • Experience can be gained through any combination of coursework, academic pursuit and/or work experience.

SALARY: $101,879.71/year
