Salary range: $175 - $210,000 annually

Your Opportunity:

This position operates at the intersection of policy, operations, and executive leadership, supporting high-visibility national security decision-making at the most senior levels of government. You will provide technical program analysis and senior advisory support for the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Defense Programs (NA-10) in coordinating the functions of the Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC), the NWC Standing and Safety Committee (NWCSSC), and supporting Working Groups. You will work daily in the DOE Forrestal Building in Washington, DC.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Provide executive-level technical and program integration support to the Deputy Administrator (NA-10), delivering analysis to support executive decision-making.

* Serve as a Senior Weapons Advisor, integrating technical, operational, and policy inputs to inform strategic planning, priorities, and risk mitigation efforts.

* Analyze and synthesize technical studies, program data, and assessments to identify risks and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

* Coordinate front office operations and executive action processes to ensure effective alignment of communications, tasking, and decision support.

* Lead and integrate three front office support functions, ensuring coordinated execution of senior leadership priorities:

o NWC support team, providing technical analysis, program integration, and coordination across Department of Energy and the Department of War.

o Deputy Administrator's Action Group (DAAG) correspondence specialists, who are responsible for executive tasking, formal correspondence, and action tracking.

o Front Office Executive Assistant team, who are responsible for scheduling, engagement coordination, and administrative support.

* Provide oversight and coordination for Nuclear Weapons Council activities, including support to the NWC, and NWC Standing and Safety Committee (NWCSSC).

* Build, coordinate, and manage weekly schedules, meetings, staff summaries, performance reports, and briefings in support of the NWC.

* Collaborate with federal program managers, senior government officials, and interagency partners to address issues related to the nuclear weapons enterprise.

* Manage executive correspondence and task management processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent responses to inquiries from external stakeholders.

* Research, draft, and review technical and programmatic briefings, talking points, white papers, narratives, analyses, and other products for use in the NNSA decision-making process, ensuring they accurately convey complex and technical issues.

* Contribute to the preparation of joint, annual DoD/DOE reports for delivery to the President and/or Congress, including National Security Memorandums, Plans, Directives, statutory one-time and annual reports, and prepared testimony.

* Review and draft comments on formal inquiries from Congress, members of the National Security Council (NSC), NATO office, senior primary offices of record.

* Integrate analysis and studies of issues affecting the nuclear weapons stockpile and infrastructure; review, analyze, and provide recommendations on these reports to the appropriate authority within DOE/NNSA and the DoD.

* Active Q or Top Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain a DOE SCI.

* Bachelor's degree in policy, political science, national security, or related field.

* 10 or more years of demonstrated experience managing nuclear defense-related programs, implementing strategic policy decisions, and advising senior government officials on time-sensitive and complex matters related to the nuclear deterrent.

* 15 or more years of national security and/or nuclear weapons fields experience.

* Strong understanding of nuclear weapons programs and the nuclear weapons complex.

* Demonstrated leadership and experience in providing technical, analytical, and project management support to U.S. government customers for national security projects in DOE/NNSA and/or the Department of Defense.

* Strong understanding of the structure, functions, and activities of the Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC), its committees, and Action Officers Working Group.

* Be capable of working in demanding environments related to political or national security matters.

* Ability to adapt quickly to changing policy and procedural requirements.

* Ability to successfully manage a team of people. Supervisory experience required.

* Superior analytical, writing, and briefing skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:


  • Master's degree.
  • Chief of Staff experience.
  • Direct DOE/NNSA-related experience.
  • Managerial experience.
