IMEG is hiring a Senior Commissioning Authority in Los Angeles, CA, to perform the full range of commissioning responsibilities across all building types, including large, complex projects. In this role, you will lead commissioning and retro-commissioning efforts that include preparing plans and specifications, managing documentation through Cx Alloy, conducting design reviews, leading construction meetings, performing site observations, developing pre-functional checklists and functional tests, and supporting post-occupancy follow-up activities. You'll also partner with owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to help deliver high-performing building systems.

Principal Responsibilities

* Manage and support multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, schedule management, and budget oversight
* Manage projects with a minimum contract value of $750,000
* Review construction documents and equipment submittals for commissioning compliance and project alignment
* Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures
* Perform technical analysis of building operations, including controls and sequences
* Assist with and self-perform functional testing of building systems as required
* Conduct jobsite field observations, write detailed field reports, and lead commissioning meetings
* Communicate proactively with clients and project stakeholders throughout project delivery
* Contribute to improving commissioning processes and best practices
* Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers, and mentor less-experienced team members in a team-based environment

Required Qualifications and Skills

* Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
* 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent
* Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred OR
* Recognized Building Commissioning Certification preferred (or ability and desire to obtain one)
* 14 years of experience minimum required, 16 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) design consulting industry, or equivalent
* Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients
* Experienced knowledge of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations
* Experienced knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems
* Experienced knowledge of Cx Industry Standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and code requirements
* Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.)
* Experienced in the review of construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing and electrical drawings, specifications, etc. )
* Experienced knowledge of electrical and fire/life safety systems
* Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures
* Experienced in troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software
* Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems and coordinates non-standard test scopes such as technology, BECx, etc
* Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software
* Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely)

Commissioning Team Highlights

* IMEG provides Commissioning (Cx) and Retro-Commissioning (Retro-Cx) services to verify that building systems are designed, installed, and functioning according to the owner's requirements and industry standards.
* In new construction, IMEG's commissioning agents work from the design phase through occupancy, developing commissioning plans, performing equipment inspections and functional testing, and resolving issues to ensure systems perform as intended.
* For existing buildings, IMEG's specialists investigate and test current systems to identify operational improvements or corrective actions that can restore or enhance performance.
* The commissioning team helps support high-performance buildings while contributing to reduced operating costs, environmental impact, and occupant comfort.

State of California Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000
Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
