| Duties and Responsibilities |
Position Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Rama Shankar at Loyola University Chicago is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join a newly established research program focused on systems immunology and multi-omics approaches to study sepsis, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (
MODS), and critical illness. The successful candidate will lead innovative projects integrating single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, epigenomics, and clinical data to identify immune mechanisms and biomarkers associated with disease progression and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead independent and collaborative research projects
- Analyze and integrate multi-omics datasets
- Develop computational pipelines using R/Python
- Collaborate with clinical teams
- Prepare manuscripts and contribute to grant applications
- Mentor students and research staff
- Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bench work
- Experience with single-cell and multi-omics integration
- Familiarity with RNA-seq, EdgeR, Seurat, Harmony, Monocle3, or scVelo
- Knowledge of immunology
- Experience with clinical datasets and HPC
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills

- M.D. or PhD required
- The doctoral students should hold a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, or a related field

- Record of peer-reviewed publications
