Cyber Security Specialist

Reports to: Chief Information Officer

Location: Platte City, MO



JOB SUMMARY

The Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for the realization of security strategies through the design of complex systems, which are founded on both industry and corporate standards. The Security Engineer is also a contributor to CPSS enterprise architecture strategy. The Cyber Security Specialist works with other teams to provide technical guidance and to foster overall alignment with CPSS enterprise architecture and industry security best practices. This role collaborates with Project Managers, External Vendors, IT Leadership, other administrators, and various technical team members throughout IT to develop security operations. This individual will possess advanced communication and technical skills along with practical experience in multiple areas within their discipline (i.e. Identity and Access Management, Threats, Attacks, Vulnerabilities and System Hardening, Architecture and Design Network Segmentation,

Security Assessment and Testing, Operations and Incident Response, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Governance, Risk, and Compliance). The Security Specialist is expected to resolve large and complex problems, challenges and issues that cross multiple teams and business

units. The Security Specialist is expected to serve as a subject matter expert in several areas within their Security discipline.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Requirements Gathering, Design and Implementation (20%):
  • Assist with the development of road and strategy describing evolution of security
  • technologies from current to future state.
  • Assist with requirement gathering and technology selection aligning the Security Function
  • to Business Strategy.
  • Participates in security projects. Completes the successful execution of project
  • activities. Assists and develops project presentation. Presents project presentation to
  • technical groups.
  • Assists in the design of security solutions and operational support systems and processes.
  • Assist in the development of Security Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines.
  • Assists in the analysis of current environment to identify deficiencies and opportunities for
  • improvement; recommend solutions and collaborate with CPSS IT to develop processes to
  • implement changes.
  • Ensures solutions fit strategically in the overall security architecture and meet existing
  • technology, application, and business standards.



Process and Support (60%):



  • Provides tier one level of Security support acting as an escalation point for issues.
  • Configure security controls in multiple protection systems and IT infrastructure in
  • accordance with policy, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist with Automation of security measures
  • Identifies technical solutions to mitigate security vulnerabilities
  • Assists with security assessments and threat models
  • Analyzes system data and security logs responding to attack vectors and security incidents.
  • Conducts incident response and investigations.
  • Performs routine maintenance and upgrades to systems and software.
  • Day-to-day security administration of the datacenter and WAN network
  • Facilitates administrator and end-user IT security training.
  • Completes risk assessments.
  • Perform other related duties to support the mission and critical success factors of the CPSS
  • Technology department.
  • Consults with vendors and other CPSS IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • May work on complex incidents, perform troubleshooting, administers repairs to meet team SLAs.



Technology Innovation: (10%):



  • Seeks opportunity to automate, simplify and consolidate security platforms and processes.
  • Actively participates in and assists with vendor contract negotiations for areas of
  • technology expertise.
  • Stays abreast of security trends as well as how it pertains specifically to CPSS.
  • Assists with strategy/roadmap and identifies and recommends new technology solutions to meet business needs.



Peer Leadership (10%):



  • Actively system admins, network admins, providing feedback, as necessary.
  • Is a SME for key areas of expertise and drive key projects or ongoing operational functions.
  • Drives meeting agendas and expectations for security touchpoint meetings with IT
  • leadership.

REQUIREMENTS



  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related subject, Certifications CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA), Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems
  • Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent security experience
  • 2+ years within information security.
  • 2+ years' experience in both design and operational support across 2 or more of the key security silos (Identity and Access Management, Threats, Attacks, Vulnerabilities and
  • System Hardening, Architecture and Design Network Segmentation, Security Assessment and Testing, Operations and Incident Response, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, Governance, Risk, and Compliance)
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adhere to and or create risk management, change management, and configuration management policy, standards, procedures and guidelines.
  • Business Continuity Planning
  • Possesses or displays the ability to learn multiple technologies and systems.
  • Professional experience demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and contractors, to prepare reports and to communicate ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in areas of network/security preferred: Brocade, Fortinet, Extreme, Cisco or related networking technology (routing/switching), load balancing, WAN/Wireless (RUCKUS AP Preferred), Packet Brokers, Network Security and Cloud Gateways, Privileged Access Management, SIEM, IDS/IPS, Multiple Firewall Implementations (Palo Alto & Panorama Preferred), Security Assessments and (MS Authenticator and Duo Preferred) MFA. WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This job operates Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00 PM including an afterhours support on call rotation Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 8:00 AM. The position will also require limited travel.
