Job Description:

As a NPOC Planning & Delivery Consultant supporting Network Strategic Initiatives, you'll support projectbased work that strengthens Southwest's network through close partnership with multiple Teams. You'll contribute to the planning and delivery of Operational and Commercial initiatives by understanding business concepts, data sets, and operational processes, supporting portfolio and program management activities, and helping execute business cases through clear requirements and process changes. The Team's work spans a broad range of Network priorities and relies on analytics, critical thinking, strong stakeholder relationships, and effective storytelling to drive alignment and deliver outcomes in dynamic and evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Leadership and Department SMEs on various activities required in the ongoing management of the Network strategic plan, associated portfolios, and implementation of initiatives against the plan

  • Communicate recommendations and results to department and Commercial or Operational Leaders with a communication strategy that recognizes the intended audience and delivers the recommended course of action with the utilization of strong visualizations that aid in communication of the story behind the data

  • Develop, deliver, facilitate, and/or participate in multi-departmental presentations or workshops with supported work groups, Senior Leadership, and Executives

  • Partner with cross-departmental teams to identify solutions for complex problems and implement various corporate initiatives

  • Support multiple simultaneous projects which may be multifaceted, time critical and/or regulatory in nature

  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by influencing the strategy / portfolio, and building business cases, what/if scenarios, driving analysis, recommendations and delivery

  • Assist in resolving operational and/or business challenges that are cross-departmental which can include business-centric artifacts such as process maps, job aids, change, communication, and training

  • Leverage analysis, technology and project management skills to facilitate solutions that incorporate a clear understanding of the business problem at hand as well as the broader impact across the wider Commercial and/or Operational group and Company

  • Facilitate the demand management process, including shaping and prioritization discussions with stakeholders, and facilitate Senior Leadership prioritization and review

  • Provide thought leadership, feedback, and share expertise with team members without a direct reporting relationship

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Intermediate knowledge of project management, strategic planning and portfolio management principles

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to apply a methodical and logical approach to solving complex problems (Business and Technical) and identifying options for solutions

  • Skilled in building and maintaining relationships and a high level of confidence and trust from Leaders and Peers

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office products and creating effective PowerPoint presentations for various audiences

  • Intermediate skill in influencing, negotiating, building consensus, and acting as a change agent

  • Ability to digest significant amount of detailed data and summarize relevant information for the appropriate stakeholder (e.g., Managers, Directors, VPs, etc.)

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex concepts like schedule design elements, work rules and business processes to all audiences both verbal and in writing

  • Ability to work with loosely defined and changing priorities and in situations with imperfect and incomplete information to conduct analysis, develop consensus, and make recommendations

  • Ability to connect how projects and programs integrate with Company objectives

  • Strong emotional intelligence to empathize with others, communicate effectively, and overcome challenges and conflicts

  • Ability to lead discussions with stakeholders from multiple backgrounds who have conflicting priorities; act as mediator if teams are not aligned and drive towards a recommendation or solution

  • Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the organization, its philosophies, and procedures around the different areas involved in the Operational and/or Commercial areas

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and demonstrates ownership and accountability

  • Focused on continuous improvement and passionate about complex problem solving

  • Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment

  • Comfortable with working independently and as part of a Team

  • Ability to teach data, tools, techniques and business knowledge to Peers and other Team members

  • Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple tasks working as a Team player with little supervision

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

    • Project/portfolio management

    • Contributing to cross-departmental, high visibility Projects and Programs

    • Applying critical thinking analysis to solve complex problems related to strategy development or project delivery

    • Building trust and relationships with all levels of Employees & Leadership

  • Preferred: PowerPoint skills (including communicating and crafting storylines); SQL; Alteryx; Tableau

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be able to work extended hours based on operational needs

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $108,700 per year to $120,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
