Associate Underwriter or Underwriter - National Accounts

Based on qualifications and experience, this position can be filled at either an Associate Underwriter - CL or Underwriter - CL level.

What You'll Do:

In addition, you'll:

• Utilize manuals, procedures and collected information to handle basic to complex underwriting assignments while referring business outside of authority limits

• Review classes of business, exposures, losses, and submissions

• Correspond with Territory Executives and Underwriting Support Specialists to verify submission information

• Maintain privacy and confidentiality requirements

• Participate in underwriting training sessions

• Assist with additional duties and underwriting projects as needed

• Perform Placement of reinsurance assignments

• Work closely with other business functions to ensure service and quality objectives are met

• Attend/partake in company/industry sponsored continuing education seminars and annual team meetings

• May assist with training other underwriters on underwriting procedures

What it Takes:

• Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in Risk Management and/or Insurance preferred or equivalent work experience

• 0-5+ years of related work experience

• Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.

• Demonstrated experience in analysis, defining and solving problems and use of good judgment and decision making. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.

• Knowledge of underwriting systems and/or arious sofware applications beneficial.

• Insurance courses related to property and casualty insurance, such as IIA and CPCU beneficial.
