Job Summary: The Estimator III is responsible for leading complex estimating efforts and preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for large-scale Design/Build, Design Assist, GMP, and Plan & Spec projects. This role is a key contributor to the pre-construction process, supporting project strategy, developing conceptual budgets, and collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project pursuits. The Estimator III also provides mentorship to junior estimators, maintains estimating tools and databases, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of departmental processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead estimating efforts for complex pursuits, including conceptual budgets, design-build estimates, plan & spec, GMP proposals, and competitive bids.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Responsible for on-site visits, pre-bid meetings, bid RFIs, and bid proposals to understand project requirements.
- Review estimates prepared by peers and junior estimators to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with Engineering, BIM/Detailing, Fabrication, Purchasing, and Field Operations to support pre-construction planning.
- Responsible for collaborating on change order estimating, compilation and negotiation, including material and equipment buy outs, and project turnover on assigned projects.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, cost assemblies, material pricing, and software tools.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities to enhance estimating processes and tools.
- Lead special studies, committees, training, etc., to advance company's technical abilities in estimating and installation procedures.
- Support Sales, Marketing, and Project Management teams developing proposals and drive pursuit strategies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.):
- Minimum 7-10 years of estimating experience required in the construction industry.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, with sound judgment to determine when collaboration or escalation is needed.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with management and accounting software used in estimating and project controls.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, designers, and sub-contractors.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including building spreadsheets and using formulas effectively.
- Advanced proficient utilization of 3rd party estimating software systems.

Job Responsibility Level: No direct reports Travel Requirements: Travel to offices, shops, or job sites may be required 10-20% of the time. Hours: This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Occasional overtime may be necessary for business needs. Competitive Wages: $80,550 to $110,475 annually.
