Job Summary
The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for leading and executing environmental, health, and safety programs within a heavy steel manufacturing environment to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace. This role serves as a subject matter expert, driving the implementation and continuous improvement of site-level EHS initiatives, risk reduction efforts, and safety culture enhancements.
Primary Duties
- Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEP and other relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine facility audits and inspections to identify hazards, gaps, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to identify operational and environmental risks.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate identified risks. Training and Development:
- Develop, deliver, and coordinate training programs on safety procedures, emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure all training materials are up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements. Incident Investigation:
- Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate findings and recommendations to site leadership.
- Oversee waste management practices, ensuring proper disposal of general waste, universal waste, and hazardous materials within environmental regulations.
- Monitor and conduct storm water sampling per facility permits.
- Monitor and conduct other physical and/or visual inspections per any other facility permits and regulations.
- Monitor emissions and implement programs to minimize environmental impact. Safety Program Development:
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies, programs, and procedures tailored to heavy steel manufacturing.
- Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization by engaging employees in safety initiatives. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and track EHS performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management and regulatory agencies as needed. Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness for potential incidents.
- Collaborate with local emergency services to enhance preparedness. Contributor Health
- Supports hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos management plans.
- Conducts Ergonomic evaluations and develops corrective actions based on risk. Machine Guarding & LOTO
- Conducts machine guarding assessments on a regular cadence and brings potential risks to management and maintenance immediately.
- Ensures machines are guarded properly and the use of LOTO is used properly.
- Works with management and maintenance to correct any issues or gaps that are discovered. Build & Maintaining Working Relationships
- Responsible for collaborating with internal and external Safety representatives on organizational-wide initiatives.
- Works closely with Safety Manager, Plant Manager, and Human Resource department regarding worker's compensation, Employee Return to Work Program and restricted duty policy execution.

- Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 50 pounds.
- Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health or related scientific or technical field preferred; and
- 5+ years of experience in organizational safety and employee health programs
- Previous experience with Job Safety Analysis and Ergonomics preferred
- Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, and NIOSH rules and regulations
- Experience as training professional preferred

#DaytonParts The US base salary range for this full-time position is $62,100.00 to $90,400.00. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
