THE POSITION

Step into a meaningful role as a Corrections Food Service Supervisor with the Department of Corrections (DOC). This position lets you guide food service teams while helping to support daily operations at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads food service operations by supervising staff, inmate workers, and daily kitchen activities to maintain a safe and efficient environment. The role supports strong food service standards and ensures compliance with safety and sanitation rules. As a Corrections Food Service Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Supervision: Oversee staff and inmate workers performing routine and specialized food service tasks
  • Training Support: Provide orientation and instruction on regulations, job duties, safety practices, and special diet preparation
  • Safety Inspection: Check food service areas, equipment, and food items to ensure sanitation and safety compliance
  • Resource Review: Evaluate census data, approve supply requisitions, and ensure food availability for all dietary needs
  • Equipment Oversight: Manage installation, operation, and maintenance of food service equipment
  • Record Management: Prepare reports, maintain records, and help ensure security through searches of inmates and work areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment. 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with rotating days off.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation, which included one year of lead work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which included one year of lead work experience.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
