This position will support Air Force cryptographic modernization efforts by helping identify capability gaps, assess vulnerabilities in COMSEC and cryptographic systems, and develop recommendations, requirements, and strategic plans for modernized solutions across air, ground, space, cyber, and weapons platforms. The position supports the development and maintenance of Department of the Air Force (DAF) Cryptographic Modernization Roadmaps, collaborating with USAF, USSF, program offices, depots, and senior leadership to identify modernization priorities, future capability requirements, and secure communications solutions. Responsibilities include supporting NSA cryptographic certification activities, algorithm transition planning, and the development of DAF prioritization packages for certification efforts. The role also supports roadmap development, architecture and requirements documentation, compliance tracking, fielding strategies, Program Objective Memorandum (POM) planning, DoD acquisition activities, executive dashboards and metrics, continuous process improvement initiatives, and leadership briefings related to enterprise cryptographic modernization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Participate in meetings, progress reviews, integrated teams, working groups, etc.
- Draft, edit, and review a variety of correspondence and documentation, primarily using Microsoft Office applications.
- Provide information management, records management, scheduling functions, and meeting/conference support.
- Prepare briefing/training materials and present briefings/trainings.
- Liaise and coordinate with personnel at all levels inside and outside the organization.
- Provide awareness of new/evolving requirements and recommendations for integration.
- Provide support for planning, programming, tracking, and financial execution.
- Prepare information papers, point papers, background papers, and staff studies
Task-Specific Responsibilities
- Provide POM support and advice for HQ CCC programs and related SAF, HAF, Cyber Panel, HQ ACC, and AFLCMC/HNC processes.
- Collect, consolidate, document, and review inputs; prepare MAJCOM POM documentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, BBPs); make recommendations; and brief cost estimates, initiatives, and disconnects for each PE.
- Develop strategic plans and roadmaps for Government review/approval with long-term recommendations for AF Crypto to address algorithm decertifications and rapidly changing technology; analyze and recommend crypto direction/options for the 2026-2036 and 2030-2060 timeframes.
- Provide Device Management, Accountability, and Algorithm Transition support and advice to HQ CCC by collecting/reviewing inputs, preparing documentation, and making recommendations for each crypto program.
- Investigate opportunities for continuous process improvement within the Cryptographic Modernization team and provide recommendations to HQ CCC.
- Assist the Government with RCMP database improvements, sustainment, and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing strategic modernization roadmaps.
- Knowledge of NSA cryptographic certification processes.
- Experience with DoD acquisition and POM planning processes.
- Experience developing executive dashboards and performance metrics (e.g., Envision).
- Familiarity with cryptographic algorithm transition planning.
- Experience supporting USAF or USSF enterprise modernization initiatives.

- Active TS clearance with SCI/SAP eligibility.
- Minimum of 2 years of advanced staff experience planning, organizing, and negotiating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive adoption of critical recommendations.
- At least 2 years of staff experience managing complex, multi-faceted programs, with strong oral and written communication skills to support staff action officer processes, document reviews, program updates, and point papers.
- Expert knowledge of COMSEC equipment and keying material processes, with a minimum of 2 years of experience, and a thorough understanding of controlling authority roles/responsibilities and complex equipment account roles/responsibilities.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with strategic-level NSA, DoD, and DAF security policies and procedures related to cryptographic and keying material, including classification guides for cryptographic algorithms, equipment, and COMSEC keying material.
