Department Summary The UCLA Department of Psychology is an exceptional department known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service. With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation's top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students. Position Summary Provide research support and act as study coordinator for the UCLA Addictions Research Laboratory. The lab assistant II will contribute to clinical laboratory studies of addiction. Responsibilities include subject recruitment, screening and retention with a community sample of research participants, coordinating organizational aspects of the study such as data entry, and coordinating regulatory aspects of the study protocol. Additionally, the lab assistant II will train and supervise undergraduate research assistants. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications* Experience in recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants. (Required) Experience working in lab research settings. (Required) Familiarity with SCID and other diagnostic tools. (Preferred) Experience handling human biological specimens, such as saliva and urine. (Preferred) Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely fashion in spite of changes in workload, changes in assignments, pressure of deadlines, competing assignments and heavy workloads. Ability to multitask and prioritize. (Required) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate effectively with research participants and to conduct data collection using clear and standardized procedures. (Required) Excellent organization and communication skills that convey sensitivity, empathy, and respect for study participants and other lab personnel. (Required) Ability to work as part of a team and ability to collaborate with other lab personnel. Skilled in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required) Advanced computer skills in word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, and databases. Knowledge of PC and Mac computers and applications. (Required) Skill in using SPSS to manage databases and perform analyses. Advanced knowledge of study-related software. (i.e. Qualtrics). (Preferred) Interest in and familiarity with clinical psychology and addictions. Familiarity with SCID and other diagnostic tools. (Preferred) Willingness to become familiar with purchasing and accounts payable component (PAC) system to purchase office supplies. (Preferred) Demonstrates ability to handle confidential materials with discretion. (Required) Ability to use standard lab equipment, including telephones, copy machines, and scanners. (Required) Knowledge of UCLA Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) scheduling procedures and center policies. (Preferred) Demonstrates ability to maintain professionalism and good decision making when confronted with difficult people or situations, either on the telephone or in person. (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Psychobiology, or related field or equivalent experience/training/education.
