Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Training Environment Systems Administrator (Systems Administration, Senior Associate) to support a Federal Government client at our Patuxent River, MD location. The Systems Administrator will interface with Training Systems IPT Leadership, support contractors and training system users.

This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that all activities within the MST (Mission Systems Trainer) Enclosure comply with Department of Defense (DoD) or program-specific security protocols. The primary mission is to keep the MCS (Mission Control System) and MST (Mission Systems Trainer) hardware and software fully functional so the user-base can conduct daily simulation-based training without technical delays.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule and is eligible for a Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on organizational/personnel needs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, support, and maintain Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Administer and support VMware server/cluster environment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, coordinate resolution with internal technical resources and external vendors.
  • Perform proactive software maintenance (patches, updates) and reactive troubleshooting to fix hardware or network failures in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor status of compute and LAN systems.
  • Analyze equipment capabilities and performance; diagnose and repair problems.
  • Create and maintain user accounts; install hardware/software.
  • Perform QA evaluations to ensure compliance with technical orders and manufacturer specification sheets.
  • Research data and develop analytical techniques and methodologies.
  • Document maintenance, repair, and test activities; include documentation updates as an integral part of every project.
  • Create and maintain reports, schematics, system documentation, diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow change control procedures during new implementations and changes to existing systems. Serve as the primary point of contact ("eyes and ears") for the facility. Report structural or mechanical issues (AC failure, power issues, etc.) to management and coordinate with external contractors performing repairs.
  • Manage access control for the MST Enclosure: coordinate with the Security Office to verify clearances and update badge access for personnel.
  • Ensure all activities within the MST Enclosure comply with DoD or program-specific security protocols.

Travel

10% travel to other sites, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years' experience in system administration of LAN systems, network security, systems maintenance, systems monitoring/reporting, requirements analysis, requirements planning, resource scheduling, Configuration Management (CM), and documentation management
  • Active Security+ CE certification
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Physically able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 40-50 lbs
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows and Linux systems
  • Ability to read and follow directions
  • Self-tasking capability to effectively use downtime and gaps between training days

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Active Directory, domain configuration, and management
  • Experience in Group Policy management
  • Knowledge in the application of DoD STIGs

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education and/or advanced certification.

Clearance

All applicants for this position must possess a current Top-Secret clearance and be able to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance; please note that the clearance process considers financial background aspects.

For this position, the projected compensation range is $125,000 - $165,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
