Overview Con Edison Substation Operations Security is seeking a Senior Specialist to join its team supporting all Substation Operations departments in three key areas: (1) Program Management of All Substation Security Capital Projects; (2) logistics and inventory management of all Substation Security Equipment; and (3) intra- and cross-departmental collaboration including outside agencies such as PSC, DHS, and local authorities. Reporting directly to the Manager of Substation Operations Security, the Senior Specialist will have a strong team orientation which fosters an inclusive work environment; the ability to develop, coach and mentor Security Specialists; persistence in executing work assignments for a demanding operating group; an ability to harness data to make both strategic and tactical decisions; and communication skills which influence positive behaviors and outcomes. This role will be located in the south region - Manhattan. This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage activities for all Substation Security Capital Projects, including inspections, testing, commissioning and delivery of equipment for Substation Operations and other operating groups.
- Serve as the primary Security Coordinator for all of Substation Operations, providing collaboration between all internal and external entities including Substation Departments, Corporate Security, and outside agencies.
- Attend and participate in Security Operations Team meetings alongside Directors, Section Managers, and formulate a security coordination strategy for Substation Operations in line with the Teams charter.
- Provide technical guidance to the team executing procurement and logistics assignments.
- Develop long-term contract procurement strategy for Substation Operations projects and programs to save costs, shorten lead time and support teams overall productivity.
- Plan, organize, and schedule work tasks to optimize productivity, under both normal and emergency conditions.
- Participate in planning the transportation of major equipment, including security equipment and large power transformers.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including individual substations, Project Managers, Construction Management, Central Engineering, Corporate Security, Supply Chain, Accounts Payable, and Facilities & Field Services and Environment, Health & Safety.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including vendors, agencies and peer utilities.
- Identify and deliver cost savings for Substation Operations by collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including those for EH&S.
- Complete assigned and supplementary Security, EH&S and skills training.
- Conduct vendor relationship management meetings to improve quality and reduce risk and cost, including through billing and performance dispute resolution.
- Participate in ad hoc activities in support of the department, including security, computing and telecom resource coordination.
- Model behaviors consistent with safety, operational excellence and positive customer experience.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of work experience and knowledge of Substation physical security protocols. or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years of work experience and knowledge of Substation physical security protocols. or
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of work experience and knowledge of Substation physical security protocols.
Relevant Work Experience
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills, required.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products, required.
- Operational understanding of Oracle or a similar enterprise resource planning application, required.
- Physical Security or Project Management or Construction Management construction Management or compliance, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License Required

- Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, and wear the required PPE as needed.
