Overview Con Edisons Commodities Procurement & Scheduling department is looking for a Senior Analyst to support natural gas supply operations for Con Edison and Orange & Rockland customers. In this role, youll develop and execute daily, monthly, and seasonal strategies for natural gas procurement, pipeline capacity, and storage optimization. Youll schedule natural gas on interstate pipelines and work at the intersection of supply planning and market analysis, collaborating with gas suppliers, pipelines, and internal departments to keep energy flowing reliably and cost-effectively across our service territory. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Procure natural gas and manage pipeline capacity and storage scheduling for Con Edison and Orange & Rockland customers
- Schedule natural gas on interstate pipelines to ensure reliable and efficient delivery
- Develop and execute seasonal, monthly, and daily supply strategies to optimize natural gas, pipeline, and storage assets, including capacity release and asset management agreements (AMA)
- Coordinate with gas suppliers, pipeline operators, and the Company's Gas Control Department to align supply with operational needs
- Forecast natural gas requirements for Steam Operations and incorporate findings into supply planning
- Monitor natural gas and financial commodity markets for regulatory, pricing, or structural changes that may affect the department, and communicate relevant developments to appropriate stakeholders
- Analyze market data and build tools and applications to improve departmental workflows and decision-making
- Ensure compliance with PSC and SOX requirements, as well as Company safety, health, and environmental programs
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests and support additional tasks and assignments as needed
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of full time related work experience or
- High School Diploma/GED and five (5) years of full time related work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of full time related work experience in utility or related energy industry.
Relevant Work Experience
- At least one (1) year of utility experience or related energy industry experience is preferred.
- Preferred
- Possess a broad-based knowledge in at least two (2) of the following areas (preferred):
- Power Generation Scheduling
- Gas Control
- ISO-administered energy and capacity markets (NYISO, PJM, ISO-NE), including TCCs and ISO Billing,
- Physical and/or financial commodities trading
- Purchasing natural gas and scheduling on pipeline and storage EBBs
- Optimizing supply, pipeline and storage assets
- Developing and troubleshooting worksheet applications and models, performing economic analysis
- developing forecasts and conducting energy related research
- Energy Policy and Regulatory matters, and/or Contract administration (ISDA, EEI, NAESB). Preferred

- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within the Company service territory, and attend out of town business meetings, as needed.
- Must be available to work additional hours in order to meet project deadlines and respond to emergencies.
- In addition, the position provides off-duty coverage and a shift rotation, which requires carrying a designated on-call cell phone during off-hours, for seven days, on a four week rotation (including weekends and holidays).
