Events & Hospitality Management Events & Hospitality Management manages event spaces and services for campus and external organizations. The department coordinates event planning, operations, and customer service. Departmental responsibilities include event logistics, venue coordination, and on site operations management.
Job Description
- Lead the development, strategic direction, and daily operations of the Tech Lounge as a student-facing hub for experiential media, esports, and live/digital production, ensuring high-quality engagement and programming
- Oversee AV and technical production systems across campus event spaces, ensuring reliability, performance optimization, and effective vendor-supported solutions
- Direct planning, production, and execution of live events and programs, including major campus initiatives and support for Leach Theatre operations
- Develop and implement systems, workflows, and technical standards that ensure consistent, high-quality user and audience experiences across multiple environments
- Recruit, train, and supervise student staff, fostering a professional, innovative, and service-oriented team culture
- Collaborate with campus partners to enhance digital presence, including modernization of web platforms and advancement of cohesive, production-aware social media and storytelling strategies and serve as a liaison with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify needs, align solutions, and support continuous improvement of technical and production capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Digital Media, Communications, Theatre Technology, Event Production, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive professional experience
- Extensive hands-on experience; 7-10+ years of progressively responsible experience in live event production, AV systems, theatre production, or digital media environments (streaming, podcasting, or content creation)
- Working knowledge of stagecraft and technical systems, including lighting, audio, rigging, and show control workflows
- Experience supervising teams, mentoring students or staff, and managing production workflows
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve technical systems in active production environments
- Apprenticeships, workshops, or specialized training (e.g., puppetry, welding, technical theatre, production support, AV/multimedia support)
- Demonstrated success producing or supporting complex, multidisciplinary productions (e.g., live events, hybrid digital/physical experiences, or large-scale performances)
- Experience designing, building, or implementing technical systems and workflows for performance or media spaces
- Background in collaborative, interdisciplinary, or devised work environments
- Experience with emerging media formats, including esports production, live streaming, podcasting, or interactive media
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g., QLab, ETC Eos, Vectorworks/SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, streaming platforms)
- Experience working with external vendors and cross-functional stakeholders
- Familiarity with web platforms, digital storytelling, or social media strategy in a production context
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,916-$58,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
