Position summary:

Electric Transmission System Analysts support electric transmission administration and system management platforms, partnering across Operations, Transmission Planning, Engineering, Accounting, Regulatory, and Legal teams, and external customers. Electric Transmission System Analysts demonstrate knowledge of transmission administration processes including tariff and OASIS administration, compliance matters (FERC, NERC, NAESB), meter data management, electronic tagging, and monthly reporting. Electric Transmission System Analysts analyze meter data, perform VEE (Validation, Editing, and Estimation), and submit meter data to energy imbalance markets. Electric Transmission System Analysts administer software applications supporting regulatory and accounting requirements, tagging, and meter data management.

Pay Range: $86,700 - $130,050 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Supervisor, OASIS & Transmission Services

Location: Our Corporate Headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota

Essential Functions:
* Perform monthly transmission checkout process, perform meter data validation (including VEE tasks), complete billing calculations, and produce required monthly reports.
* Manage transmission service agreements and support engineering studies and documentation for new service or load requests.
* Configure and maintain OATI and Hartigen related systems, ensuring data accuracy, formula correctness, and functional reliability.
* Provide customer service by resolving complex scheduling issues, coordinating with engineering on service requests, and supporting new customer onboarding.
* Create operational and business use displays, adjust configurations, and coordinate with vendors for patches, fixes, or system upgrades.
* Monitor scheduling activity, troubleshoot discrepancies in loads, generation output, and ATC calculations, and resolve issues with operators or counterparts.
* Interpret and apply compliance requirements (FERC, WECC, NERC, NAESB) to daily work, escalating risk or discrepancies as needed.
* Conduct training sessions for System Operators, and internal and external customers on scheduling tools, load calculations, metering checkouts, and OASIS usage.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Monitor, interpret, and apply FERC, NERC, NAESB, and related regulatory standards to OASIS operations and transmission administration processes, identifying compliance impacts and recommending adjustments.
* Develop and enhance Power BI data models and visualizations to support deeper analysis of transmission schedules, ATC calculations, and meter data trends, providing insights to operational and business partners.
* Actively participate in industry groups and forums.

What Is Required:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Software Applications or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Minimum of three (3) years of electric system operations or utility accounting experience required. This may include transmission and distribution system operations, transmission planning, transmission scheduling, energy marketing, generation dispatch.
* This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

What Is Desired:
* Knowledge of electrical operations, transmission operations and planning, generation and load balance.
* Knowledge of wholesale electric energy and transmission transactions.
* Working knowledge of FERC, NAESB and other regulatory requirements for wholesale electric energy and transmission transactions.
* Knowledge of web-based software systems to support configurations, monitor data and formulas, support system upgrades and relational databases.
* Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work under the stress of real-time electric system operations while maintaining professionalism and tact.
* Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse set of individuals.
* Excellent customer relation skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Ability to thrive in an environment of continuous change.
* Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
