Sr. Specialist, Business Intelligence Developer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Soo Line Railroad Company, dba CPKC, seeks a Sr. Specialist, Business Intelligence Developer (BW) in our Kansas City, MO, office to drive the development, support, and optimization of our Business Intelligence (BI) solutions utilizing SAP BW and SAP Business Objects platforms. This role will collaborate with business stakeholders, lead technical projects, and ensure the delivery of high-quality analytical solutions. Sr. Specialist, Business Intelligence Developer (BW) will also provide mentorship to junior team members and ensure the ongoing reliability and performance of our BI systems. The position responsibilities include:

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead the design, coding, and enhancement of BI solutions leveraging SAP BW and SAP Business Objects suite.
• Collaborate with business users to collect and interpret data and reporting needs; translate these into scalable data models, reports, and dashboards.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SAP BW data objects such as DataSources, InfoObjects, Transformations, DSOs, InfoSets, InfoCubes, MultiProviders, and BEx Queries.
• Deliver and support SAP Business Objects reports and dashboards, including Web Intelligence, Analysis for Microsoft excel.
• Support, monitor, and troubleshoot daily data loads, ensuring data integrity and timely data availability.
• Contribute to project planning, requirement-gathering sessions, and technical development efforts for the SAP BW portfolio.
• Prepare comprehensive technical and functional documentation, including requirements specifications, development guidelines, and test cases.
• Identify and communicate project risks, assumptions, and constraints to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with business and BPC teams to provide seamless support during month-end forecasting and financial cycles.
• Provide end-user training as well as ongoing technical support for BW solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the BW team.
• Assist in the migration and transition from legacy BW solutions to new SAP-centric reporting platforms.
• Troubleshoot application issues, resolve service requests, and perform root cause analysis for BW-related problems.
• Deliver ongoing 24/7 support for critical SAP BW services as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics/Computer Engineering or a closely related IT field. The position requires 5 years of progressively responsible experience in SAP BW development and support, with two full cycle development, and 3 years of working with SAP transactional systems such as ECC and CRM. We also require 3 years of hands-on experience with ABAP programming and Business Objects development using the various toolsets (Web Intelligence, Dashboards, and Information Design, Analysis for Microsoft Office). Experience may be gained concurrently. Travel up to 30% to Calgary, Canada.
