Manager, Supply Chain Logistics

  • Required Travel: May need to travel to additional sites as needed

Job Summary:

The Manager of Supply Chain Logistics is responsible for and oversees system-wide supply chain logistics including courier and lab courier services, shuttle buses, fleet management, and mail/print services. The Manager of Supply Chain Logistics plays a critical leadership role in assuring that supply chain logistics services are provided efficiently, reliably, and in full compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. With a focus on continuous improvement, service optimization, and expense management, the Manager of Supply Chain Logistics leads system-wide, daily operations related to the safe and efficient movement of equipment, supplies, lab specimens, mail, and team members between Endeavor Health sites. The Manager of Supply Chain Logistics is responsible for staff development, team member engagement, the achievement of department and system goals, and assisting with the completion of special, system-wide projects assigned by the AVP of Supply Chain Logistics and Warehousing.

What you will do:

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and empower a team of supply chain professionals by providing strategic direction, coaching, and career development opportunities to foster a high-performance culture. Hire, train, evaluate, and guide subordinate personnel and assure that application of corrective action procedures of subordinates is consistent across managerial team members and are within the guidelines of corporate policy. Approve changes in compensation and other employee movement within their span of control.
  • Logistics Optimization: Design and implement advanced logistics strategies to optimize service levels and reliability. Through courier route optimization, aligning shuttle bus capacity with demand, assuring the appropriate use of premium mail services, print optimization, and adherence to the EH Driver Safety Program, the Manager of Supply Chain Logistics will assure that patient care is supported via the provision of best-in-class logistical support services.
  • Cost Management: Monitor supply chain logistics expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and execute initiatives that improve financial performance without compromising quality, service, or regulatory compliance. Assure that all invoices are reviewed and approved to enable accurate payment for services in accordance with contractual payment terms.
  • Financial Stewardship: Serve as a key contributor to the annual labor and financial operating budget for all departments under their leadership, manage operations to achieve the budget, and prepare variance reports monthly as indicated; contribute to a five-year capital plan to assure a modern, efficient fleet of vehicles and copy/print devices
  • Process Improvement and Operational Efficiency: Evaluate supply chain logistics workflows and staffing levels to identify inefficiencies, lead process improvement initiatives, and implement industry-best practices that enhance speed, accuracy, and service delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Ensure full adherence to healthcare and OSHA regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Endeavor Health site and service line leaders to assure that the support services provided (shuttle service, fleet management, mail/print, and courier) meet the needs of the site's team members and align with both current state and future operational imperatives and hospital-wide goals.
  • Data Analysis and Performance Reporting: Analyze supply chain data, review key performance indicators (KPIs), generate actionable reports, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent work experience. Master's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Certification: Valid Illinois Driver's License, Preferred Illinois Commercial Driver's License. Preferred process improvement certifications include Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S; preferred supply chain certifications include APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management), APICS CLTD (Certified Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution), ISM CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), SOLE CPL (Certified Professional Logistician), CSCMP SC Pro Level 1-3, ISCEA CHSCM (Certified HealthCare Supply Chain Manager), and APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional); FACH
  • Experience: 5+ years of healthcare supply chain logistics experience, with a minimum of 2 years of that experience being in a supervisory position
  • Unique or Preferred Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of logistics, fleet management, mail/print, and transportation strategies in healthcare
  • Well organized and able to perform effectively under pressure; must be able to effectively coordinate multiple projects and activities
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Humble with a servant leadership approach and a demonstrated track record of success achieved in a collaborative environment
  • Resilient, self-motivated, and capable of building and maintaining professional relationships across a wide variety of roles
  • Professional with sophisticated intellectual capability, nimble, confident, and comfortable in a matrix environment
  • A passion to mentor, develop, and lead staff at all levels
  • Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA, HIPAA, OSHA, NTSB)
  • Ability to lead change initiatives, manage stakeholder resistance, and foster adoption of new systems, processes, or technologies
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, parcel management and goods delivery platforms, and process mapping tools used in healthcare logistics

Physical: Medium work (exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs. of force frequently and or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
