SNA - Shift 1 ($0) (United States of America - California)

A BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Operations Technician, Tool Room is responsible for managing CNC tooling, and various machine equipment, maintaining associated CNC tooling/equipment inventory, getting quotes and placing orders for CNC tooling/equipment, providing support and guidance for CNC machinists, and continuously evaluating alternative tooling options for improved tool life and better pricing.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Issue tooling to CNC machinists ahead of machine setups by strategically reviewing the production schedule, receiving back unused tooling from CNC machinists, and place the unused tools back into the correct location to keep all tools organized.
  • Inspect tooling for wear, damage, or needed replacement.
  • Customize or rework tooling using manual grinders and other manual equipment or coordinate with internal resources and/or outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintain tool crib organization and cleanliness.
  • Maintain tooling inventory and work with outside vendors managing tooling vending machines. Adjust tooling vending machines min/max and add/remove tools as needed to ensure the optimal tool quantity on hand.
  • Coordinate with Planning to ensure production plans are understood and tooling is prepared on time according to the production schedule to avoid machine downtime.
  • Coordinate with vendors and Purchasing for tooling/equipment quotes and orders.
  • Support Engineering and CNC programming in defining the best tooling for new products.
  • Support continuous improvement by reviewing the current tooling used on products and identifying potential better, longer lasting, or cheaper alternative tools.
  • Conduct and track tool life studies with CNC machinists to understand each tools expected life and determine if improvements or alternative tooling is needed.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and improvements and elevates to Supervisor.
  • Assist and train others as needed.
  • Print jobs and issue raw material
  • Pull components, carbide rod and burs that are issued to jobs.
  • Physically return steel back into inventory and M2M.
  • Receive and transfer tooling
  • Pull shipping supplies for the shipping room
  • Receive and inspect raw material
  • Check oil drums for levels and order more oil per Kanban cards and fill oil tanks as needed.
  • Unload and load freight trucks.
  • Box up material for heat treat.
  • Ship material using GTS online.
  • Cut and scrap bent bars, possibly non-conforming material.
  • Check gongs for chips
  • Scan in jobs for heat treat
  • Operate fork lift
  • Assist and train others as needed
  • Reinforces safety expectations. Ensures safety operating practices are demonstrated. Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Completes all required training.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Or Equivalent (Required)

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturing Experience (Preferred)
  • 3+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with CNC machining processes (mills, lathes, tooling types) (Required)

PAY RATE

For positions located in California, pay for this job type falls within the following range and varies based on scope and complexity of job responsibilities: $22.26 - $28.00 per hour.
