Office Support Person VI - Public Defender

The Office Support Person VI works alongside a team of attorneys and other office support personnel to assist in the representation of indigent clients. This is a more senior office support role and could involve providing training and support to other support staff.

Our team is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes in the cases we handle, while also addressing the underlying issues that have led to our clients' involvement in the justice system.

• Provide general administrative support including but not limited to:
  1. Typing, mailing, and filing correspondence;
  2. Tracking data in Excel spreadsheets;
  3. Filing legal motions; and
  4. Data entry.
• Monitoring, reviewing, marking, and maintaining trial lists, violation unit lists, and/or mental health unit lists.
• Monitoring email and mailed correspondence, updating calendars, and populating data into case management systems.
• Updating attorneys' calendars to ensure all matters are properly scheduled.
• Working with and following up with stakeholders including jails, prisons, and mental health facilities to assist clients in finding treatment and ensuring clients are released in a timely fashion.
• Providing customer service on the phone and in-person at the office window.
• Perform additional duties as specified by the Chief Clerk or as needed.

Education and Credentials

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license and reliable transportation.

Experience and Skills

• Must be able to type 45 WPM (typing test required).
• Microsoft Office and general computer competence required.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
• Should be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Must be able to work independently with little supervision;.
• Spanish or other language fluency preferred but not required.

• Significant and repeated use of a keyboard and desktop telephone.
