Job Description:

Summary:

Responsible for leading, assembling, and managing estimates and Guaranteed Maximum Pricing (GMP) and risk assessments during the preconstruction phase for all scopes and disciplines of work. Develop relationships with estimating team, vendors and trade partners to maximize efficiency and project success.

Essential Duties:

  • Work with the Estimating Manager to establish a bid team with assignments.
  • Coordinating bond requirements with estimating coordinator.
  • Scheduling pre-bid requirements.
  • Manage the bid solicitation process.
  • Coordinate and manage project-specific MBE/WBE requirements.
  • Read and interpret Drawings and Project Specifications.
  • Creating the HCSS estimate for the input of items by the bid team.
  • Identify project risk and potential impacts.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings.
  • Review General Conditions, site logistics, schedule, & scope of work.
  • Thoroughly review project plans and specifications and coordinate with teams for complete scope.
  • Perform multi-level estimating techniques on alternative bid delivery systems.
  • Manage Bid Form requirements and assemble final costs.
  • Analyze and secure costs for project-specified items with appropriate subcontractors and vendors.
  • Participate in the preparation of the pre-bid construction schedule.
  • Organize and participate in bid team coordination meetings and estimate reviews.
  • Analyze alternative means and methods to determine the best value for the project.
  • Establish direction for bid day requirements.
  • Develop bid package scopes of work and required bid documents with assistance from the Project Manager and Operations Team.
  • Support estimators with analysis/scope review process and assist with supplier and subcontractor selections.
  • Coordinate and assist with project hand-off meetings.
  • Participate in pre-construction services including: budgeting, design meetings, and value engineering services.
  • Assist and participate in presentations with clients.
  • Visit project sites to determine construction methods.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Evaluate industry cost trends.
  • Review, train, and manage work prepared by Project Estimators.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 2 years of estimating experience -or- 5+ years of applicable experience in construction project management.

Communications Skills:

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Demonstrate leadership, communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency with office equipment, computers, Microsoft Office Suite of programs, and various PC software programs and knowledge of estimating software.
  • Experience with HCSS or similar estimating software preferred.

Other Skills:

  • Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to proficiently perform duties with limited supervisory guidance.
  • Must have conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements.
  • Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents.
  • Ability to lead estimates for multiple projects at the same time with proven time management skills and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic to complete tasks in a complete and high-quality manner.
