Intramurals, Recreation & Fitness Center

Job Description

Missouri University of Science and Technology seeks an enthusiastic individual to oversee and manage the daily operations, facility scheduling and maintenance of the indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The selected candidate will oversee the Student Recreation Center, three outdoor facilities, Outdoor Recreation Experience, Intramural Sports and Fitness Center. They will serve as the point person for recreation reservations and will be responsible for the safety of patrons within the facilities.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Approves and develops schedules for groups that utilize athletic & recreation facilities including practice, intramurals, club sports, academic departments and community use
  • Assists with establishing policies and procedures regarding facility usage, risk management and security efforts
  • Oversees the Fitness Center Manager and supervises the Fitness Center Manager
  • Oversees the Intramural Sports program and supervises the Intramural Sports Coordinator
  • Collaborates and works in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Facilities and Game Operations on scheduling events and programming
  • Inputs schedules into a scheduling software for recreation programming, non-departmental and external groups
  • Works with student and outside groups to ensure safe and successful events
  • Provides recommendations to the Director of Athletics for facility needs and upgrade
  • Works directly with numerous departments on campus to ensure facilities are in good condition and prepared for day-to-day activity and events
  • Prepares bi-annual reports with patron facility usage and reservation data
  • Hires, trains, and supervises student employees to assist in the daily operations of the Student Recreation Center
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting students, staff, faculty, and visitors as well as answering routine questions or concerns
  • Provides on-site supervision for Student Recreation Center events when needed
  • Assists with promoting and marketing recreational facilities, programming and events through various social media outlets
  • Maintains public and internal websites with up-to-date information on programs, services, highlights
  • Works with campus partners for large-scale, campus-wide events including Commencement, Orientation, Career Fairs, and Greek life events
  • Assist in the preparation, forecasting, and monitoring an operational budget
  • Oversees payroll and approves time sheets for payroll
  • Serves on campus-wide committees as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift

General work schedule is Monday through Friday 8am - 4:30pm
Occasional weekend depending on events

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • CPR/AED Instructor level certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience supervising full-time staff and student staff
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining and managing facilities
  • Budget management and fiscal integrity
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,916 - $55,500 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
