At M. J. Electric, you aren't just applying for job, you are building a career. About this Role - Estimator We are looking for a talented Estimator who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for independently developing cost estimates and resource requirements for solar & wind construction projects throughout the region. What You'll Do - Review plans, specifications, drawings to determine the cost of the project - Analyze time, equipment, tooling, material and manpower requirements for each project - Perform material takeoffs and develop a written estimate of cost to perform the work according to the specifications - Provide the Director of Operations with a detailed cost estimate, corresponding proposal letter and bid form breakout and take over ownership of the project - Interface with customers, vendors and subcontractors to determine the cost of the project - Gather information to determine subcontractor and vendor suitability and aggressively gain the best pricing - Visit customer field locations as required to ascertain project conditions - Attend pre and post bid meetings as required and be able to effectively present information to clients to sell our projects - Select pool of potential subcontractors and equipment vendors to solicit their proposals - Analyze special safety and code requirements on all projects - Work as part of an integrated Operations and Estimating team in acquiring projects - Properly turns over bid documents to Operations in a timely manner What You'll Bring - Ability to work independently and meet deadlines - Ability to anticipate and meet internal customer needs - Proven communication, organizational and persuasive interpersonal skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient in the use of Excel - BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience (Preferred). - 3-5 years of estimating, project management and craft supervision experience in the industrial and commercial electrical construction industry training (Preferred).
