Job Duties/Scope Of Work

At the Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to provide a sustainable future for the historic Hanford area through the protection of the Columbia River and the remediation of the Central Plateau. To achieve our mission, we need exceptionally talented, innovative, and driven people to help us reduce risks on the Hanford Site by removing some of the most hazardous waste streams and facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE) complex. A day in the life of a Waste Management Specialist includes, but is not limited to:
* Interpreting waste management, treatment and transportation regulations.
* Assisting generators in the compliant management of waste including mixed, low level, TRU, hazardous, recyclable, and non-regulated.
* Supporting field activities.
* Maintaining working knowledge of the treatment storage & disposal (TSD) facilities' waste acceptance criteria and the waste acceptance processes, on and off the Hanford Site.
* Qualifying and performing visual and real time radiography (RTR) verification of waste streams.
* Understanding and administering quality program standards.
* Performing Solid Waste Inventory Tracking System (SWITS) data entry/IDMS workflow entries/Sharepoint reviews.
* Supporting Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and work planning involving waste activities.
* Performing chemical and radioactive waste characterization designations.
* Interpreting laboratory analysis.
* Reviewing various Project documents (treatment plans), sampling and analysis plans (SAPs) etc.) and providing comments as requested.
* Providing waste packaging guidance.
* Working with radioactive and hazardous materials/waste in radiological areas/hazardous waste sites.
Basic Qualifications
Intermediate Grade 14: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 2 or more years of relevant experience
Intermediate Grade 15: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 3 or more years of relevant experience
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
* BS degree in chemistry or in a technical discipline.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
* Current or past Hazardous waste worker, Radiological worker 1, Hazardous Waste Designation, and/or Respirator Qualification
* Previous experience with Washington State and Federal environmental regulations (WAC, RCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA), waste management, and radiochemistry.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on full time schedule (40 hours per week):
Intermediate Grade 14: $81,500 - $103,750 Intermediate Grade 15: $81,500 - $114,100
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
