Summary

As a Repair Technician,you will performstainlesssurgical instrument inspection,repairand refurbishment in a field-based setting.You willworkout ofmobile repair trucks at Customer sites and/or regional labs in more condensed markets.You willdeliver superior Customer Experience by providingtimelyand quality repairs to meet compliance standards.

You do not have to havepreviousinstrument repairexperience to be considered.This is an entry level job -we will train you!

Typically, your day will start in Stow 6am-6:30am. Most Customers are in the Cleveland/ Akron area. Must be willing to do 0-1 overnights per month.

This role requires daily travel by driving a company vehicle. If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7 year driving record check, as part of our onboarding process. An acceptable driving record generally means a driver has a very limited number of moving violations, accidents, or driving-related convictions.

What you'll do as a Repair Technician
  • Perform basic to intermediate level repairs of surgical instruments and maintenance including ultra sonic function, metallurgy, buff and polish, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge points, serrations, and brazing.
  • Demonstrate quality performance in intermediate skilled work including advance Dremel operation, Re-cup and Re-jaw, laparoscopic inspection.
  • Provide invoicing and documentation based on business need.
  • While primarily working inside a mobile repair truck, frequent trips inside the hospital are required.
  • Provide support various locations within assigned territory depending on the service agreements, Customer needs, and staffing levels.
  • Abide by all Company safety, health policies, and procedures. Uses personal protective equipment, as required. Completes Safety observations per site requirements.
  • Adhere and complies with all protocols (DOT, company and Customer) for the safe operation of the mobile lab including policies and procedures relative to the position.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience*, or 1 year of experience at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable.
  • Related certifications in technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards experience requirement.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and meet all FMCSA/DOT and driver licensing requirements; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (CDL required where applicable).
  • Ability to pass a DOT medical/physical examination and comply with DOT regulations as required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience that may include repair, assembly, product testing, or use of small hand tools (or equivalent transferable experience). Carpentry, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewellery repair, maintenance, construction, or automotive repair.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers and follow established processes for documentation and reporting.


Preferred:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in machining, tool-and-die work, or other mechanical/repair roles. Experience with surgical instruments or certification as a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) / SPD is highly desirable.
  • Related certifications in a technical or mechanical field, competitive equipment training, or relevant military experience may be considered toward the experience requirement.

Pay range for this opportunity is$17.06-$22.08.This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
