Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer on our global team, you will design, build, and own large-scale data platforms, pipelines, and distributed systems that directly support business-critical initiatives. You will influence the technical roadmap, lead architectural decisions, and ensure the integration of business priorities with engineering excellence. In this role, you will shape engineering standards and culture through technical leadership, collaboration, and a strong focus on quality and resilience. Your work will enable teams across the organization by delivering scalable, secure, and high-impact data solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and lead the delivery of high-quality data platforms and data-driven applications, including large-scale streaming and producer-consumer architectures
  • Own and optimize complex data pipelines, schemas, and models to ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and governance
  • Define, implement, and evolve technical frameworks and architectural standards, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and design principles
  • Drive engineering excellence through unit, functional, and behavior-driven development (BDD) testing practices to ensure resilience and performance
  • Champion automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and monitoring to improve system reliability and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide deployments, refine requirements, mentor engineers, and continuously improve delivery processes

Skills You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala, with strong experience using data libraries such as pandas and NumPy
  • Expertise in SQL, version control tools (e.g., Git), and Linux-based environments
  • Hands-on experience architecting and delivering solutions on Cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services) and within the Apache ecosystem (PySpark, Hive, Hadoop)
  • Strong experience with data processing, messaging, and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Kafka, or Dataflow

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills across engineering and business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to own and support mission-critical applications across their full lifecycle, including production environments
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with a structured approach to solving complex technical and data problems
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, modern SDLC tools (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint), and Google Cloud Platform
  • A strong curiosity for emerging technologies and a passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $100,000 - $153,000. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
