SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking a Pharmacist Intern to join our MTM Pharmacy team. Current vacancy is casual, no benefits.

This is a pharmacy intern position to support the MTM clinical ambulatory program at HHS. This position will provide support for the department's operational needs such as billing, documentation, as well as outreach efforts to patients for scheduling purposes. The learner also may be responsible for performing direct patient visits under the supervision of the pharmacist. The intern also will assist with coordination of schedules and learner calendars. There may be portions of this work that can be done remotely. The position will cover approximately 8 hours per week, with potential for additional hours throughout the year and in the summer. Hours will likely be during day shifts and may also include evening and weekend hours.

Purpose of this position: Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature. Maintains
standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures into the daily operation of the
pharmacy. Performs within scope of practice as defined by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the values of the organization by demonstrating personal responsibility, respect for self and others, innovation through teamwork, dedication to caring, and excellence in customer service
  • Participates in active learning through assigned preceptors and apply this learning to real time patient care
  • Supports and assists the pharmacists, pharmacy supervisors, managers, and directors to integrate departmental and organizational goals into department's activities
  • Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
  • Participates in special projects
  • Performs within intern scope of practice, under pharmacist supervision
  • Completes and documents Outreach encounters within the electronic health record, following standard
    work for both operations and documentation.
  • Assists in completing required communication/documentation for billed clams to Medicare insurance
    plans within the standards set forth by the plans.
  • Contributes to the patient care process within the ambulatory pharmacy spaces.
  • Actively recruits and schedules patients to be seen by an ambulatory care pharmacist, including but
    not limited to helping patients understand the purpose of their visit and inviting patients to use
    our community pharmacy services.
  • Participates in assigned projects that focus on outreach and educational efforts determined as
    priorities by the department.
  • Serves within our community pharmacy sites (Refer to 'Community Pharmacy Addendum") Engages in
    special projects, as assigned by members of the pharmacy leadership team.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team and
    interdepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High school diploma required. Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy or seeking admission within twelve months of hire


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Six to twelve months pharmacy experience preferred


License/Certifications:



  • ctive Pharmacy Intern License from the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, when eligible to obtain
