Description

As a Ports America Summer Finance Intern, you will have the opportunity to put your collegiate experiences and knowledge into action by working on high-impact projects within our Finance Department.

Throughout your time, you will be exposed to the various financial functions that support a dynamic maritime company. You will gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, analysis, and budgeting while adding value to a critical part of our business. You will work closely with accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and operational teams, as well as external partners, to help support the financial needs of a major terminal operation.

Essential Duties:



  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports to support business decisions
  • Help track and manage operating expenses and capital projects
  • Participate in financial modeling and variance analysis
  • Assist with process documentation and improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational financial impacts
  • Support audits and compliance documentation as needed


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Enrollment at a college/university/trade school through Summer 2026 and/or into the Fall 2026 semester
  • Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain / maintain TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with financial systems or data analysis tools is a plus


Internship Details



  • The start date will be Monday, June 1st, 2026
  • The internship will last approximately 10 weeks, ending on Friday, August 14th, 2026
  • This is a full-time internship (up to 40 hours a week, Mon- Friday)
  • The format is expected to be in-person at Port or office location


Selection Process

  • Different internships will have different timelines for interviews


Compensation & Benefits



  • The hourly rate range is $25.00
  • Continuing to develop your skills and experience at a growing organization
