Shipping and Receiving Manager

OVERVIEW:

The Shipping and Receiving Manager oversees all shipping, receiving, and inventory operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. This managerial position is crucial for ensuring the effective and efficient movement of goods and materials, upholding inventory accuracy, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. The manager is responsible for coordinating the activities of the shipping and receiving staff, strategizing logistics plans, and collaborating with other departments to meet company-wide objectives. Optimal candidates will demonstrate excellent leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, precise attention to detail, and strong problem-solving capabilities. These qualities ensure that the Shipping and Receiving Manager can effectively oversee processes and guide their team in adhering to shipping schedules, quality controls, and organizational standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Oversee and coordinate all shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

* Supervise rigging operations for industrial equipment, ensuring proper loading, unloading, and secure transport.

* Ensure correct selection and use of rigging equipment such as slings, chains, hoists, and cranes for safe load handling.

* Train and oversee employees in rigging procedures, including load balancing, lifting techniques, and securing methods.

* Conduct regular inspections of rigging equipment for wear, compliance, and safety, arranging for maintenance and replacements as needed.

* Manage inventory control, material transfers, and purchase order documentation.

* Work directly with customers to coordinate shipments, including freight negotiations.

* Optimize warehouse storage and organization for efficiency and safety.

* Communicate shipping requirements across all departments and leadership levels.

* Lead and develop a high-performing team through training, coaching, and performance management.

* Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency, cost reduction, and safety enhancements.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Implementing safety procedures and standards in handling goods.

* Negotiating shipping and freight rates with carriers.

* Ensuring that shipments are processed promptly and stored correctly.

* Maintaining records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.

* Ensuring products are stocked correctly and inventory levels are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load limits, and securing methods for heavy machinery.

* OSHA rigging certification or crane operation certification (preferred but not required).

* Strong leadership and team-building skills.

* Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse management, and logistics operations.

* Strong knowledge of logistics and inventory software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial equipment rigging and logistics management.

* Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or work experience in related field is highly preferred.

* Experience operating and supervising the use of cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other rigging equipment.

* Certifications in supply chain or logistics management can be advantageous, such as a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) accreditation.
